The Hotel Hottingen was renovated in 2016 and is centrally located, 500 metres from the Kunsthaus Zürich museum, next to the Hottingerplatz bus and tram stop. It offers free Wi-Fi and common kitchens on each floor. The Zurich University, the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), the University Hospital, the Children's Hospital and Lake Zurich can be reached within a 10-minute walk. Direct tram lines go from the Hottingerplatz stop to Zurich Main Station. All rooms in the Hottingen Hotel are equipped with a cable flat-screen TV with 220 international TV channels. Wooden floors and modern decoration round off the new rooms. All units contain a private bathroom.All comfort rooms feature an additional cable internet connection, a minbar and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. The common kitchens on every floor as well as the ironing facilities can be used for free. A washing machine, a dryer and a refrigerator are available at an additional cost. Everything! I travel quite often and this is a gem! Room was small, but very clean, well organized, super comfy bed/pillows, nice bathroom with shower - and sparkling clean, and small balcony (would be nice in the summer). Staff were also very friendly & helpful! Is right near the 8/3 trams, the 3 takes you straight to the main train station - and in the city center with the 8 in about 10 mins. Well known bakery right next door & another restaurant down the street. Kitchens on every flo.

My room was bigger than expected and I was the only person using the shared bathroom on my floor. I liked that a generous breakfast was included in the (already very reasonable) price and that there was a computer with internet access on the ground floor for guest use. There was even a printer with it, making me think the hotel has really thought about what travellers might need. The art gallery. Hotel Hottingen is better than what i expected. Despite being rated with only 1 star, it is an excellent hotel! For solo traveller, the room is big, clean, well-equipped with TV and washing basin. The private toilet (which is a few steps away from my room) is perfectly clean. The location is great as Hottingenplatz tram station is very nearby. Staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming! Hotel Hottingen is really a value-for-money hotel!. I have stayed there many times even before when it was a convent and the Nuns were running it :-) What I love is that it is clean, has a great breakfast, is conveniently located and affordable in Zurich which is expensive. Also, I love that when they remodeled, they left the 4th floor as single rooms with bathrooms in the hall so that they would remain affordable for travelers like me. This hotel is fantastic. It is very clean, comfortable and has all kinds of little details that make your stay there and in Zurich overall a very pleasant experience. I have stayed here several times, and other hotels in Zurich, but I prefer this one because of the good price, the reliable quality services and the convenient location. Breakfast is great too, you'll leave stuffed. Location is closed to tram station, quiet. The hotel is decent. The bathroom is not in the room but is for my own use, so basically it's about the same. Facilities wise is good as well. There is a pantry with fridge to use. I came late but the staff is still there for check-in. Generally I enjoy the stay. With this budget in Zurich, I cant expect more!. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived from our international flight hours prior to check in. They got us into a room so we could dump our luggage and get some much needed sleep. The breakfast was wonderful. Nice to take advantage of a free breakfast when dining out in Zurich is very expensive. Reasonable priced compared to other hotels. Decent hotel all the way, that I would recommend for others. The room I stayed in was clean, very well equipped and in general the experience exceeded my expectations. The front desk lady was very nice and helpful. We arrived early with a jet lag, everyone was very tired and sleepy, the lady helped us with early check-in, we all had a good nap before we head out to the city. Will recommend to others. Other than that, the slightly limited opportunities at lunch were good. 2) I needed to have my shirt ironed, and was asked to enter a dirty room in the basement where an even more dirty iron board was located. I would recommend the hotel to spend the 20-30 EUR to upgrade this element, as it had a negative impact on my overall impression somewhat. 3) As mentioned wifi was slow. Noise from traffic if window open. Small bedroom. In my opinion, the price is a little high for such a small room (mine was an "economy room"), but probably it is in line with the standards of the city. Not so many restaurants nearby and the ones which I found open were quite expensive. [~60Euros, dinner for one]. Small room, breakfast menu is poor. Nothing really could do with sitting chair thats about it.. Very small Televisions in the rooms :). A triple is a double with extra bed, not a larger room. We asked for an economy double room, it was actually mini, with our baby it was a bit unconfortable. Room a little small. Nothing all great. No parking and I think this apply for Zurich in general. It was noisy at night as some young boys were staying in the room next door Breakfast was very basic, could do with some more variety. Nothing. no parking car. Description of quadruple room showed sofa bed. Not possible in the room. A bit noisy. Automatic lights at the bathroom, leaves you often in the darkness. Description of quadruple room showed two double beds but we found two single beds & two extra sofa beds.The price is high for such a small room.The lift is too small for wheelchair. We were a couple and had a double bed which was 2 single beds pushed together. Small shower where the curtain did not give you much space. Breakfast: 1) no hot meal, 2) poor choice of vegetable: cucumber and tomato only. Noise of tram through the windows. Toilet/Shower room: 1) minimum shower curtain for preventing water spread, 2) automatic room-light on/off, whose sensor does not properly cover the shower area. Shared bathroom and toilet. Reception staff was unkind and unhelpful.
