-very clean and comfortable -staff is very helpful. Euro sized plugs don't work at the hotel, but adapters can be borrowed from the reception. -close to everything. Tram 4 takes you to the main train station and its only 5min away. Tram stop very close to the hotel. -very comfortable, electronic safe in the room, air con works really well. all reviews » The hotel is surrounded by many bars and restaurants, very close to the lake, away from the train station about 20 minutes walking, the staffs are very friendly and helpful, they assisted us in arranging the city tours, and also bed sheets were clean as well as the bathroom. The breakfast was good and restaurant offer a good meal during evening such as fajitas and Burger, if I visit Zurich again California Hotel will be my choice definitely. I liked the American Wild West Hotel California (Eagles) theme that the hotel has. It was living in the wild US West and stepping out into Zurich! If staying there, make sure you have the breakfast at their Cafe Papa Joe's. Ours was great - freshly made to order! BTW their check out is 11am or 12pm and you can check out and actually leave!. The location was great and so accessible to places of interest in the city. Conveniently located near the tram stop & station. Staff friendly, & though it was noisy downstairs in the pub in the evenings, as we were on the 4th floor, it didn't bother us. The entrance/ and reception of the hotel is small, if you have heavy luggage you need to enter to the restaurant down the hotel and use the elevator and then do your check in, same thing on the check-out, as of any three stars hotel in Europe do not expect a staff to assist you in lifting your luggage. The reception is on the first floor and you have to take your lugagge with you on the steps. Nothing. Just one small thing: our euro size socket equipment didn't fit hotel socket. My favorite in Zurich. There is no private parking. Nothing. Internet was on and off No lounge/TV-room. Smell from the lift !. Nothing. Situated above a restaurant, but that was not really a problem. The staff at breakfast didn't write down people's orders, and when the order was for more than a few things, we didn't get exactly what we asked for. noise in the night. Nothing. Too much noise from restaurant and street for the rooms above restaurant. Too low beds for not so young people. Missed boiler for tea or coffee in the room. All good. Towels were some of the roughest I've ever used. Nothing. Cheap, relative to others in the area, but expensive compared to UK prices. Switzerland is so expensive. Small room. We were given a small room (we were three people).
