The family-run Continental Parkhotel is located 200 metres south of the main railway station of Lugano, where the funicular leaves regularly for the city centre. Plunge into the wonderful swimming pool amidst a large park after a day of doing sightseeing or business in Lugano. All rooms are air-conditioned and non-smoking and are equipped with soundproofed windows. The comfort rooms are located in the annex building and the superior rooms in the main building of the Continental Parkhotel. The Continental Parkhotel features several restaurants and a typical Ticino-style Grotto in the garden, which is open twice a week during the summer months. Start the day at the rich buffet breakfast and taste delicious cuisine à la carte or a tasty set menu. The buildings of the surrounding Ronco dei Bianchi historical vineyard have been carefully restored and house a distillery, a cellar for the wine production, the agricultural museum and the grotto restaurant.

We very much enjoyed everything about our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful; the room that we had (#70, the best in the hotel we were told) was large and has an incredible view of the lake; we were by kindly given a free upgrade without asking; the breakfast is more than adequate and by our standards very good; it is very close to the train station; the grounds are beautiful with a nice pool (unfortunately, while there it was, we were told, unseasonably cold and overcast so did not get .
all reviews » An historic property, carefully preserved and tastefully upgraded, one of Lugano's great period hotels. It is convenient to the train station if you are one of those travelers who trundles a suitcase behind you. From its location, it commands a view of the lake and city if your room is in front, or of the beautiful grounds from the rear of the building. Double glazed windows shut out intermittent train noise at night. Excellent breakfast buffet served in an elegant dining porch, attended by. The hotel is quite attractive. Nicely landscaped and decent sized property. It was nice sitting out at the pool (did not go in). We could walk to a nice restaurant across from train station. The breakfast was excellent in choices and quality. Did not have dinner in hotel. Staff were great... Room was quite good and comfortable. It was not that far to get over to western shore of Lake Como. We took ferry over to Bellagio and went on a tour of the western part of the lake on a boat out of. - The hotel is like a homey mansion. You feel like you're at home. - Rooms are clean, comfortable and very relaxing (loved the terrasse area). - Breakfast is great and staff are always pleasant and helpful. - Loved the pool! - Loved dinner served outdoors. - Staff always make you feel at home. - Loved that it is close to the train station and old town. This is a beautiful grand hotel within walking distance of the train station. Exceptional reception service, cleanliness and value. The food was excellent as was the food service. We had a beautiful view and found this an exceptional value. Luxury hotel at reasonable prices. There were several families with small children there. Read the description carefully and choose a room in the main building. We hope to return one day and enjoy this hotel again. You reserved a premium room, and they placed us in the corner room which was "huge" and faced Lake Lugano. There is a "huge" bathroom with an enormous shower room with a TV on the wall in the shower. There is also a spa tub in the room, but can't be used after 10:00pm because of the noise it might create for the neighbors. We enjoyed the view from the balcony everyday. They also provided us with free bottles of water and a basket of fruit. The hotel is in a very convenient location, just steps away from the train station. Great sound proof windows so I couldn't hear any street noise at all. The back gardens, vineyard and pool are beautiful. Food was fantastic. I ate at the hotel restaurant two nights. And breakfast was large and varied - with an incredible sweets tray. Self pour bubbly was a nice touch too. Staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. Overall loved it!. Prestige twin room was excellent with wonderful lake view and nice spa tub & shower. Lovely fresh fruit, chocolates and truffles welcome basket - thank you! Pretty good location- within 5 minutes walk from the train station- and no need to climb up or down the stairs: which is a huge plus in Lugano. The employees were wonderful! Petra, at the front desk, was especially helpful and very friendly! They upgraded my husband's and my room to a suite with a lovely view and big balcony on the 4th floor, which was lovely! The food for the breakfasts was wonderful and there was plenty for all of us to choose from! We felt welcomed and pampered! There was a lot of attention paid to detail (crown moulding, tiling, etc.)However, it was likely the best room in the hotel (Prestige Room on 4th floor) so I have no way of judging how the other rooms (comfort or superior) compare. Staff was excellent. Front desk people always kind and helpful. We have stayed at this hotel before and it was even better this time. We were upgraded by the hotel to a room with a sea view and balcony because of this which had a fantastic view of the lake, mountains and the town. The bedroom was large and spacious and the gardens have some lovely seating areas for enjoying a drink or just relaxing. The breakfast was included and had a really good choice of items. The hotel was situated closer to the railway staton than I had realised however despite our room being at the front of the hotel we never felt the trains disturbed us. We stayed for two nights and opted to have our main meal in the hotel which was very good. All of the staff are very helpful and you feel most welcome. I recommedn this hotel extremely. We arrived at the hotel about 10:30 hrs. in the morning and hotel gave the room immediately. Some hotels never give the room before 14:00 hrs. even the rooms are ready, but this hotel did not do that. This is a very good/excellent service for the customers. Couldn't work out why there were no proper curtains at first but realised we had to close the shutters from the balcony. Reasonably priced evening meal. Breakfast very good. I have enjoyed many sojourn in hotels world wide, the Continental Parkhotel will be added to my list for returns, it has a definite flavour of Raffels in Singapore. A really high standard hotel with it's private park. A nice, wide breakfast buffet, including a small dessert buffet (which mainly Italians like so early in the day). The view from the room, the furniture and comfort of the unit were excellent. The location, next to the train station, and the funicular to go downtown are a plus. There was nothing about the hotel that we did not like. Again, it was great. I would note, however, that as others have pointed out, Switzerland is incredibly expensive and you need to be prepared to spend considerably more (50-75%) more than you might expect. (Note that I am comparing Switzerland to places like London, Paris, Venice when I make this comparison.) In other words, this hotel is expensive by most standards, but reasonable by Swiss standards. I am quite sure there was nothing we did not like. I would stay again. Nice views. The only detractor I can think of is if one wanted to be right in the downtown or near the lakeshore. I suppose if you face the train tracks, it might be noisy at times, but we had a room facing other way. Sound travels easily between rooms. You can hear people walking next door. Not a serious issue but the only thing we noticed. Did not interfere with sleep. The walls and floors are marble (beautiful!) but may transmit sound. Don't let this stop you from staying at this wonderful place. We want to go back. Very trivial complaint, but since you asked... they could use extra waste basket in the room. There is only one in the bathroom. Breakfast was good, not great. No fresh juices & limited fresh fruit. Yogurt nothing special. Scrambled eggs tasted like a mix. Very little information available in guest room. No coffee or tea in room, no wine glasses. the free wifi was barely accessible in the room. perfect connection on the ground floor. An ice machine and a kettle or coffee maker in the room would have been a nice bonus. Room furniture not as stylish as could be, but not a problem at all. Nothing. - There can be some noise from the trains (even with your windows closed), but it's not that bad, we definitely slept through it. We did not have time to enjoy the lovely outdoor swimming pool. Minor issues really, parking area is quite small and filled up some evenings. With the proximity to the train station it is loud when outside, but the windows in the main building are well insulated if that bothers you. The tiny shower room and plastic beakers not glass - very off-putting for such an opulent looking hotel. Not a thing. Location just above the train station unavoidably leads to some noise (but windows and doors are perfectly soundproof and there is little train traffic at night; park-side rooms are very quiet anyway). The room was very small, although pretty well laid-out. The air conditioner broke the morning I checked out, and no one ever came to check on it although I was assured they would. Pricing in Lugano in general is quite horrible. Actually nothing. If you are a light sleeper facing the train station may bother you. only the lake view side of room coz the trains always passed by just like down of the building coz it is too much close from hotel. but after midnight, no noise. and also the reception is very nice to accept our asking of changing room. I can't think of anything we didn't like. I can imagine that the close proximitiy to the trainline could be a problem for some rooms, but my rooms was so well insulated, that I wasn't disturbed at all. Reluctance to put on the air con.in the dining room until asked despite temperature in upper 20's. Definitely recommend it! Cant fault it at all. No complains. Nothing. Can't remember a thing. Congratulations to hotel staff. The trains were quite noisy when pass by and the windows are not sound proof enough. Nothing else.
