Initially shocked at the small size of the room, and then learned to appreciate the economy of space. Location of hotel is good, close to the main train station, but not adjacent, and within easy walking distance to shopping and city sites. Breakfast is quite good with many choices, however, the best part is the evening meal. Billed as a light supper, the choices are more than adequate for an evening meal, making the stay at the Clarion Folketeateret an economical one. Staff is also quite ni.

The Clarion Collection Hotel in Oslo was a fabulous stay with lovely accommodations and one of the most exquisite breakfast buffets one could imagine. They hadn't notified us that they didn't have two beds available but were kind enough to not add any cost for the upgrade. A wonderful overall experience and fabulous location in the gorgeous city of Oslo! Kate, Washington D.C. Super friendly staff - answered all the questions, allowed us to check in 4 hours early, printed tickets to plane for us, smiled all the time Super tasty food - Included dinner and breakfast, meal for those, who missed the dinner Great location - near central station, metro. I always stay at this hotel when I come to Oslo. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are well done, and the large breakfast and light dinner that's included is exactly what I need to start and end the day. They are also pet friendly!. the location is extremely convenient. the interior decoration is excellent, especially the lounge on the top floor. the terrace outside the lounge is superb. it is good to have breakfast and dinner included particularly in this expensive city. brilliant facility and decoration make the hotel really in fashion and comfortable. wide range of breakfast choice and to our surprise, even including a light dinner. But it doesn't have a car park and it is very difficult to get there if you are driving. Both free evening meals and the morning breakfasts were very good. I don't think there was anything we didn't like. Noise from the night club is intrusive. Lasts from 11pm to 3.20am (not Sunday). Nothing to complain. Room design is nice to the eye (in my opinion, of course) but not practical (the bedside tables are a good exponent of this). No drawers at all and no room for clothes, just a few hangers. Comfy bed and armchair, though. These are minor aspects compare to the positive ones but should be improved. Shower curtain undersized: the bathroom gets flooded. Uncomfortable cushion (for me at least). A bit pricey. Decorating is a bit overdone throughout. Lobby is huge but rooms are small and cramped. Hot food options for breakfast were cold. I've stayed at this hotel before and had not had a problem and was disappointed this time. Not much space in the bathroom to hold toiletries. Area is not the most attractive,nothing to be concerned about though as its very central and close to the city centre. Nothing really. - we booked the hotel through letsbookhotel.com and it was a special offer including dinner. we expected to get a dinner a la carte/buffet, with a larger choice as it actually was and were disappointed about this point. - housekeeping was not 100% satisfying: they did not clean the basked in the bathroom and did not really tidy up the rooms (my pijama looked like thrown onto the bed....). Room size quite small, but enough for a weekend. Perhaps not having where to put your clothes is the major inconvenient. Cleaning personel was no so effective. Imposibillity to modify the AC settings from bedroom (only from livingroom wich is quite disturbing). The light dinner average... No where to put clothes except on hangers so under-ware etc. was placed on display shelves. Bathroom had nowhere for a toilet bag. Evening meal was part of the package, but the area allocated was small and cramped with too few tables and the staff, though excellent were clearly overworked when there were a lot of guests. Every thing was wonderful. Hotel is very difficult to find. Hotel website could include walking directions from the central train station and make mention that there is another clarion hotel that is nearer the train station and to not confuse the two. We missed the breakfast as it began at 8:00am in the weekend, but we need to catch an early train. Nothing, really. The gym could use some free weights, but that's really nitpicking in case of a hotel. It's a bit dim but think that's all part of a mood lighting theme. no wardrobe and a small room. Hard to regulate the room temperature. Need a shelf in the bathroom for cosmetics. Booked a "Superior" room and got the "standard" room rather than "superior" room. Although the receptionist changed my room, she tried to claim that the other room was also "Superior". Room and dining area were small. The dining area for the evening buffet is too small, unless you wish to share a table. No waffels left at 4pm. TV in the room did not work. the lights too dim especially in the restaurant. No kettle in the room to prepare tea or coffee. Breakfast time starts a little bit late on weekend. It should start at 7:30 am. the same time as on weekday. There should be a stair/step(perhaps moveable) to step on in/out to the terrace. Rather small rooms and too dark.( the lobbies too) . Norway doesn't have good hotels. This one is no exception. No safe in the rooms. No shampoo or conditioner. They "forgot" housekeeping one day. One of the people in the reception was terrible (though the others were very good). You can't control the room temperature. It was very hot during the evenings. No safe in the room. No hair shampoo or conditioner. No control over ac (and was too hot). They didn't serviced the room at all for my last day of stay. Initially the receptionists were very friendly but later the new receptionist was terrible. nothing special. Parking was incredibly expensive and far from the hotel, the provided dinner was marginal. All of Norway is way overpriced - no values whatsoever.
