We stayed at Le St-Martin Hotel Centre-ville as a special treat toward the end of a trip that had us traveling long distances with grandchildren and visiting New Jersey, Maine and New York. We then detoured to Montreal to take in the Mosaiculture International at the Botanic Garden. We chose the Le St-Martin because it looked like a 5 star and more “adult” environment that would help make a whirlwind trip special. It also was a half block from the metro and just a few stops from the Botanic Gar.
all reviews » The atmosphere and ambience of the hotel is incredible, being a boutique hotel, they really got it right with the design. The room was exactly as depicted in the descriptions. The bed was phenomenal, I am a finicky sleeper and I had no trouble falling asleep. One quirk, the shutters open on the outside, meaning one can "peak" inside the bathroom. The pool, while very small, had an excellent seating area, quiet and away from the bustle of the downtown area. The location was incredible, walking d. The hotel and room was very modern, clean and comfortable. They offered free snacks to the room in the early evenings. The downtown location was convenient to the underground mall and train station, but there we're few good restaurants nearby. We had stayed in Old Montreal for 3 nights as well and much preferred that area - many wonderful restaurants just steps away. Did not understand the parking system: there is an open parking, with the name of the holtel on it, but the staff does not recommend it. They recommend the inside -- valet parking, more expensive. The restaurant l'Aromate is not as good as expexcted -- the chef experiments with textures leaving the taste aside -- or is it us?. no tea in rooms...that is about it !. It is pricey, but so well located. The lack of attention by the staff at the bistro Aromate,they were more concentrated at talking among themselves than attending to customers trying to get their attention to no avail most of the time. Nothing. The staff was rude and unwelcoming. Noise level at night. Wish the pool was bigger. Television in luxury suite bathroom and outlets and hair dryer in bathroom were not working. The A/C unit was extremely loud and woke us up several times at night when it would start up. Cost of parking. Front staff could be more friendly and accommodating Major bathroom flood in high end room. Gave us 1 free days parking!!!. entry to the bistro is confusing with only one half door. Nothing. Disappointed with the two + hour wait get into our room(instead of 4 pm, got into our room at about 6pm). Room not very large. Strange shutters w view to bathroom!. Can't think of anything. could not understand the way air conditioning functioned. the rest was OK. Elevator. Pricing for hotel, and parking rate could be better. After a switch of bedroom, they offered free valet, however they would not remember it at check out (same person).
