We love what Douglas Fir has to offer our two Granddaughters in terms of facilities(the pool, hot tub and play park). We had a one bedroom chalet which was perfect for us and Douglas Fir provided a playpen and highchair, which meant we did not have to pack them in the car. We love being able to take the bus for free, and we love the friendly staff, who always smile and give a warm and friendly greeting, and that includes all the staff we met either indoors or outdoors. We love seeing the wildl.
all reviews » The Waterslides and Indoor Playground were BIG hits with the kids!! The fireplace and free wood were most welcome. The surprisingly convenient and well-stocked store on site was also a welcome convenience. The full kitchen and nearby parking were very handy. The location is far enough from town that it is quiet at night, but a close bus ride, short drive, or half hour walk away from the Resort. We had a studio and one bedroom condo. They were close enough to each other for the children to go back and forth independently. The water slides and playground were close by and occupied the children for many hours. We loved the fireplaces and hope to return again soon. We're a young couple and we have came to Douglas fir twice with the kids , it's inexpensive on days that arnt busy ( Sunday Monday ) witch is an effordable price We love it because its very unique , we like the fireplace in the rooms and the pool , play place etc... Very nice people to deal with and very accomodating. You may find the rooms a bit old looking, but they are very spacious, have fireplaces with wood furnished, very clean, and are out of the hustle and bustle of downtown, yet only a few minutes away,. The balcony is wonderful, can see the stars and mountain. The kitchen is functional and well-equipped. I enjoy the hot tub most, it is quite relieved to sketch your boy in the hot water after the exhausted journey and cold weather. It felt like a home! Quiet, comfortable,close to everything we needed. Loved the views from the 3rd flr balcony. Loved the kitchen, well supplied, and the layout was open and comfortable. Loved the under ground parking. A great family resort away from the busyness of Banff, but close enough to enjoy! We had a full kitchen in our studio suite, so we didn't have to eat out all the time. A great place to relax!. Great for kids, the water slides and playzone kept our grandaughter very happy! Loved the fireplace, the layout of the condo.. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Spacious apartment, friendly staff . Lovely hot pool . Well equipped kitchen on site laundry and shop . Free roaming tickets to get the bus to downtown Banff . Kitchen worked well for us. Allowed us to keep our costs down. Location on Tunnel Mountain is great...away from the crowds of Banff. Wood burning fireplace was awesome. Our granddaughter age 3 joined us for fun on the water slides and loved the indoor playground. Have stayed several times and have always loved how cozy and homey it is. Our room was really big. Very clean. Fire place, yeah s'mores :). location was great; facility and suite clean and well stocked. That is was away from the town. Nice and peaceful. Love the fireplace, playplace and waterslides!. Great facilities for young kids. It was very kid friendly. nothing in particular. Fireplace, Murphy bed. Loved the waterslides. very well equiped. The play area,pool with slide and hot tub for kids entertainment. The views were amazing. The hotels location was beautiful. The room for a whole family to stay and not be crowded. The fact it had a Kitchen. Location. Not right in the townsite, but free shuttle right outside. Staff are kind and willing to accommodate. access to everything quiet at night. Waterslide for kids. We would love to be able to visit more often; however, at well over $500.00 for a two night stay, we are not able to do that. The kitchen is rather cramped (so much that the refrigerator door would not open all the way) and you have to remember to bring your own spices and seasonings. Next time I will also bring some of my own cookware and my good knives. Some of the hallway carpets were very dirty. Upon checkout I forgot to present by ama card. It would have been nice if the clerk had asked if I had one as a reminder. Check in at 4:00 pm is too late, although we could pre-check in, still a waste of time. The number of clerk in the reception desk is not enough. It wasn't that I didn't like the bedding but newer, more modern bedspreads could bring a good feel to the room. The furniture could use some updating. No robes to go to the pool . Coffee in packets was terrible! Bought good stuff. Unit needs non-stick pan. We bought one because everything stuck to the pan that was there. The hotel is a long walk, short drive from the town centre. Taxi and local buses were made readily available. laundry facilities were very expensive and signage around facility was less than helpful. It could have been a little more updated. nothing in particular. Sofa bed needs replacing and newer windows(very cold). Good for families with kids. Clean facility, good location, close to downtown Banff. Not what we had hoped for, so probably won't stay there again. Minor issue with staff re. reservations. Room could have used some up grading. Thought it was a little pricy. Poor window seals in Main bedroom results in severe wind noise during night. (Condo 164) Keeps one awake! Poorly run front desk during registration and check out. Could be more polite and friendly! Paul. We found our room dated. The facilities were more aimed at families than mature couples. No restaurant on site of close. Breakfast would have been appreciated. The noise from the next unit. Also the fireplace did not work. Filled the unit with smoke even though I followed the written instructions exactly. Found it very Dark internally, a fair way from Town. Price. Dirty. Less than helpful service from front desk staff. Beds are uncomfortable and sofa is painful to sit on!. furniture and decor dark and kitchen units a bit old and tired great for families. Have stayed numerous times over the years and feel the accommodations are becoming run down and dirty. I was surprised our room was given to us being that the door appeared to be kicked in and had to have it fixed upon arrival, carpet was saturated with a large stain in main area, toilet didn't flush, luke warm water to shower, dining area had old food and crumbs in seat, bed sheets were blood stained and stiff like cardboard, furniture worn and dirty. Overall disappointed.
