We loved the staff at the Ipanema Inn. Everyone there spoke English and were extremely helpful in finding excursions, transportation, food etc.. We had a large group of 6 (2 seniors and 2 children under 9) which made for some difficult logistics when traveling and the staff here made everything easy. Breakfast buffet was amazing and you can walk to the beach. Hotel provides umbrella and towels to chill on the beach for free. This is a great place to stay and will do it again.

Although I stayed in a room with street view, there is no noise. Definitely a good option for those who want good location and good service without being ripped off. The hotel has been refurbished, is clean, comfortable and the staff and breakfast are great. It is close to shopping, restaurants and close to the beach. Most of the staff speak English. We had a spacious family suite with a terrace and beach view. Also, the a/c unit was quiet and the shower was good too. We liked the close proximity to the beach. 1 minute walk from Ipenema beach. It was also in a good shopping and eating area. The friendly staff, especially the very smily lady at breakfast and the extremely helpful bell boy. The good breakfast. The rooms were immaculately cleaned and tidied. I liked everything. It's a nice and cosy hotel. Excellent location: close to good juice bars, restaurants, cinema, beach, metro-na-superficie station. About a three minute walk to the beach and there are plenty of shops and good places to eat that are in walking distance. The free continental breakfast was delicious. Wifi connection were a bit poor in the room - disconnected a couple of times. No pool or shower facilities. Had to negotiate to pay 1/2 the room rate for a late check out as apparently they normally don't allow this, which is a pain if you have an early evening flight and want to spend the day on the beach. Our room was labelled a "sea view" room but this hotel isn't right on the front - you could only see the street from the corner of our balcony if you stuck your head out and looked right down the street!. Our room was old and needed renovating, some had been ronovated but ours hadn't. Internet service cannot keep up with the demand from patrons. Floors are under construction so there is some building noise in the day. We preferred when the rooms had a bit more charm; the new fixtures are very generic. The rooms air conditioner wasnt working well. the room is small ... but as it was only for sleep is well. For a 2 night in Rio, I have nothing to complain about the hotel. Some renovation work during the day. The wall to the neighbouring room was very thin so one could hear the other guests. Room was small, but we weren't there to hang out in the room anyway so I wouldn't consider this a negative. Shower head was on the ceiling vs on the wall. I didn't particularly like this, but it shouldn't really matter. The shower was hard to regulate,water either boiling or Cold...rooms currently being updated. Pool was being renovated and was closed. Apparently offered beach services due to the pool being closed. However, the weather was average during our stay and there was no beach service. the room was ok, very very small but it was clean. Wifi didn't work properly. Poor reception and always logging us out. Rooms needed a bit of "finishing off" eg no proper bedside table, some tiles missing in bathroom etc. No bar/day time restaurant so really only suitable for working holidays or very short visits. A bit expensive but so are most of rio hotels. Construction Noise. Bad Internet. Internal door between the rooms not sound proof, poor internet. room was fairly plain, could cmprise the bar, snack bar and a shop to buy beach gear like lotion, or renting umbrella, chair or bike!. The service charge as we felt the amount of money you are paying for the accomodation is sufficient without an extra charge on top of it. Nothing - but cost is at high end for the facilities. rooms were fair for the money, WiFi was inconsistent. Lack of lounge facilities. The room didn't have much natural light. The rooms were a little small and old, but they're in renvation. Room was noisy, due to the fact it was a 3rd floor and there was a bar nearby on trhe same road. Rooms are very small, with no decor...had to ask for a chair to sit on (only other option was the bed). too expensive. It should be least priced. noisy, ear plugs may be helpful. a bit expensive in absolute terms, but relatively to prices in Rio is quite fair. Breakfast should be better, only limited choice. Room's size. The place is overpriced. The rooms are out of date and small. They are decent but hostels these days are nicer and cheaper. Also, customer service had a way of avoiding you and they are very strict about the 2pm check in time. No early check ins even though they'll tell you to hold on making you think there's a room but only to find that hours pass and finally, it's 2 pm and you get a room. Room and specially toilet was ridiculously small. The whole price is due to the location, but the hotel itself is nothing special. The room was too small. The lobby restroom was not available for use. Changing the primary language from Portugese to English on the tv channels was not an option. We called the front desk for help and they said they'd send someone up to fix the problem and no one came. unrefurbished room we were first checked into. after one night we asked to change. rooms v small.
