I was a bit worried, after reading some negative reviews here, but the hotel was actually quite good, for Rio standards at least. The standard room I had needed some redecorating for sure, but it was very spacious and had a fantastic city view. I was up on the 18th floor, so it was not noisy at all, but it might be more for the lower floors. The TV has very few channels and no channel guide. Also, the AC controls are too high be me to see to adjust. We could not open the windows which was very annoying. The swimmingpool, restaurant and bar area was a bit disappionting. The restaurant lacked a bit of atmoshphere, and the pool area to small, not enough space for all the guests. The bar operating out of coolerboxes, not very professional. The floors were dirty, had to clean my feet before going to bed. The windows leaked during a rain shower and the floor got wet. You're being logged off the internet every time you close the computer. All good. Sushi restaurant was ok, not great. But worked. The window in our room was a little dangerous, it opened completely, could be dangerous if with small children- a very long drop! The carpet could do with a change. No complaints about anything. Hotel driver was supposed to wait for us during the visit of Corcovado but he left probably with other client and was not back on time to pick us up. Had to get changed to a new one to be satisfied with the bathroom. I have to change my payment option. I gave my debit card by mistake and change it to Credit card. I see charges on both. Nothing. No family rooms, we had to book two rooms for 4 people. Early arrival from Europe, asked for an early check-in and was told that they were fully booked but if I wanted to, had a room that they could offer to me at half price. A bit too business oriented in my opinion. Pool was under renovation, so no access. The room size for the paid fare. Poor pluming. Rooms are not as nice as they look on pictures. Noisy air conditioning. The hotel rooms are a bit tired and in need of an update. English is not spoken very widely by staff other than reception. The room is worn out and dirty and the windows were locked so that it was impossible to refresh the air and get rid of the smell that emerged from the bathroom. Some room features need update especially bathroom. we got a renovated room, which is great. however upon check in the entire room floor has not been cleaned, walked about in room for few minutes and got sand and black feet. Asked for it to be re-cleaned and it wasn't done properly. They left out some sections unvacuumed (visible because can see hair etc). In the 4 days I stayed there, the shower is never cleaned because the hairs left on the drain-stopper is perpetually there since day 2 until we checked out. Some of the room WiFi is poor,. Some of the rooms are to old, may need refresh. Rooms are too old. bathroom needs updating. Hotel needs a refurb. Price is not suitable for the accommodations. I could here the noise from the local bars until 4 am. My bathroom wasn't luxurious and neither were the shampoos etc. Leaving!. Terrible internet connection. Disconnected every 4 minutes old furniture not friendly staff dirty hotel and smells bad very bad value for money. everything. Price Smelly suite (old smoke) Outdated (hip 15-20 years ago) Leaking water from A/C Noisy A/C. way too expensive for the level of structure and service provided. The room wasn't very cleaned.
