“Good hotel, reasonably priced, great location.” My daughter and I stayed at this Hotel Sunday night as we were attending a concert at the entertainment centre. The location is great for that and it is very close to Chinatown and Central train station. The Hotel met all our needs including Twin beds, early check-in and breakfast. all reviews » We received an early check in. We were upgraded to a superior room as a double bed was not otherwise available. The room was very quiet (on the back) and well appointed. The staff excellent including the breakfast lot. The buffet breakfast was very good. 1. Staff in any consumer related activity can either make or break the business. The Holiday Inn staff are dedicated to making guests feel comfortable. 2. Impressed with the Bfast staff who handled the demand excellently. My room (705) was always cleaned very well and very efficiently. The front counter staff actually went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and often exceeded the level of service I've experienced at similar hotels. Even though the requested bedding was unavailable (see "What didn't you like?"), the staff were fantastic in dealing with the situation. They were very apologetic and courteous. They are a credit to the Holiday Inn. I was presently surprised to be upgraded to a larger room, I was staying overnite with my 23 year old son. Previous overnite stay was not a pleasant one, was reluctant to stay again, glad I gave it a second chance. Otherwise this would be a perfect place to be. A room with 2 doubles to be on offer would be an added attraction. Our room was on the first floor at the front of the Hotel. The Metro runs right past the Hotel level with the first floor and apart from the noise of trains every 10 mins from approx 6am to 10.30pm each train throws the room into shadow for a few seconds. When booking ask for a room at the back of Hotel or a higher level at the front. breakfast was cold. shower was mouldy. Everything was perfect. Wifi should be complementary. The room looked a little 'tired', scuffed timber and paintwork. Not enough powerpoints in the room!. I dont know how many people use the gym but it was smaller than expected but we made it work. The extra $3.00 charge at the carpark after i had already paid the required fee at the hotel and i managed to create a very embarrassing queue at the carpark exit. WiFi is not free (only 30 mins per device daily, in the lobby) - in this day and age, you'd expect at least free WiFi from a hotel of this standard. Late check in - no rooms available earlier. Nothing. nothing. Described as being on Darling Harbour but it's actually in China Town. Not being able to get a coffee late at night in the bistro. slow room service on ice request, over 3 hours. The valet parking was not listed at a cost on The Booking .com website. Looking at the website, I believed this to be free, and when I rang the hotel to check on parking, they confirmed I could simply park out the front for valet parking. They did not say that there was a $45 charge for this. The "special meal" in the bar was disappointing.
