The room layout was good, beds were comfy, heaps of wardrobe space, great size bathroom and pretty quiet. We weren't in Melbourne for business or leisure but a hospital procedure - and did feel safe there on my own when partner in hospital. No problems cancelling 1 night when due to hospital muck ups. Lovely room + bathroom, great shower, private rooftops view from room 330.. Fantastic air-con, friendly helpful staff. Let us check out a minute or two late with no extra charge.
all reviews » we have stayed at this hotel over a ten year period ,we have tried several other hotels ,but found that nova star gate suited us in all aspects . price comfort locatation . Mainly just little things - had 2 single beds instead of a double (but we didn't want to complain so our fault), hated the shower tap, had a bit of trouble with the key card at the front door, better instructions for the heating/air conditioner and face washers would have been good. Cockroaches Lack of toaster, detergent (but staff brought them promptly) 2 light bulbs not working Pair of woman's under pants had been left in 1 bedroom Would have liked bathroom to have been cleaned mid-stay. So far I don't see anything I don't like yet. nothing at all. The horrible smell coming from the kitchen sink hole - had to run the hot water continuously to flush away whatever was down the pipe. Saved having to ask for a change of room. Told reception about it, and suggested the cleaning staff should be made aware. First appearances are a bit negative. Unprepossessing entrance and reception area. they need some softer pillows, all ours were firm there was some mold on our ceiling, so needs some work not enough milk is given had to keep buying some. The benches in the room had been damaged previously and require some cosmetic maintenance....... I also didn`t like the parking tiket I received while checking in to the hotel.. MY fault though.... Perhaps the hotel could reserve a couple of spaces out the front for use while checking in..... No smoking area in the room,with cold temperature outside is freezing smoking at balcony. Television selection was poor. Room was a bit small. the sofer lounge area VERY SMALL for 4 people. Size of shower. A bit noisy. cups in kitchen could do with a good clean.above shower needs bleach as mouldy. * Lack of WiFi access to room is big problem for International Traveller these days,. The bed was not very comfortable. The notice saying that a charge of $25 would apply to unwashed kitchen materials. The shower was not clean, grime around the edges. Broken air conditioner. the parking was confusing. Staff didn't explain how things worked eg tag security. might be ok for someone who stays in motels all the time but confusing for someone who doesn't. Cig butts all over balcony, electricity a bit dodgy, toaster blew up,3 lights out, broken switch. The room had a slightly sweet odour when I arrived. The bed is by far the worst of 6 hotels I have stayed in this year. room is just so so. Dated,. Heater was crap. Bedroom window did not shut properly. Dining chairs need maintenance. The courtyard had not been cleaned for many a month if not years. We stayed 4 nights and the room and bathroom was never cleaned even though we asked for it to be cleaned. the sheets were changed once. We did get clean towels daily. Would expect daily cleaning in a serviced apartment.Run down, blinds were broken. The blinds were discusting,my garage has better in it.the unit had never been cleaned properly, single beds were not what we wanted,the benchtop had holes in it,the price for this unit was double what it was worth,$485.00 for 3 nights. The hotel room was unclean The fixtures where sub standard example/bench tops where in very poor condition fridge was unstable and dirty Bathroom was dirty previous guests hair in shower and sink Also the money charged for the room was a rip off.
