Our 3 night stay was so nice we booked another 2 nights. On our first arrival wee were greeted by Alvin at the front desk who was absolutely delightful, very professional, polite and helpful and this was just one reason for us to return for another 2 nights. However on our return we were greeted by a young dark haired girl who was quite abrupt and made me feel like we were a bother to her after requesting a twin room. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend to I ends and famil.

I tried to stay at another hotel close by as the hgc was very expensive during peak season, it was an absolute disaster. I will only ever stay at the chancellor when I visit Hobart. Thank you to the staff, the service is faultless in particular the front of house staff, the concierges, housekeeping and room service. A particular thank you to the chef for accommodating my dietary requirements. Fabulous and can't wait to . Location is just great! Got everything we hope for, good food, rooms and good views! Staffs really helpful and friendly, smile is always on the face. We were late to depart from our room at 10 am during our check out day, and can only have our breakfast at the lobby cafe, the staff, a girl was really good to offer us complimentary coffee because we have to wait 25 mins for our food, great job and great thinking!. The rooms were large and comfortable with good bathroom and shower. The staff were extremely helpful. Location is excellent being on the dockside near to very good restaurants art shops and galleries as well as the Salamanca market. Ferry and boat trips available almost at the hotels front door. The bar is a great meeting place and again staffed with very hepful and friendly people. We loved the Grand Chancellor, Hobart. It was centrally located, modern, clean and spacious. The kids loved the pool and sauna also! The hotel was very family friendly and the staff were extremely accommodating and professional. My one suggestion would be to update your website photos to more accurately depict how lovely the hotel is. The newly refurbished rooms are great. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, even ensuring that our stay met all our expectations at the time of checkout. The restaurant food was well above usual hotel standard and it was own to the best meals that we had during our Hobart stay. Excellent location with wonderful harbour views. Relaxed check out time of 11am appreciated. Great to be in such a convenient location for airport shuttle bus service and other tour bus activities. Other than minor details the hgc is fabulous and a delight to stay at. Nothing we dont like. Restaurant was indifferent and failed to quite make it with haute cuisine. Would have been better with simpler meals. No TV or safe. WiFi costs stupidly high. Nothing!. I understand some of the hotel's rooms have been upgraded recently and perhaps it's time for the 'standard' rooms to be renovated also. For example the bathroom has a 'shower over bath with curtain' set up which seemed quite old and poses some difficulty getting in and out for seniors. We were pleased with everything. The bed was a bit 'springy' making it uncomfortable...... the morning traffic a bit noisy. Room service was utilised number of times during our stay. Often the calls would take a long time to answer and would instead bounce to reception and then the hotel restaurant. Once ordered however, food was delivered promptly by friendly and genuine hotel staff. There's nothing to dislike. Internet access should be free. No lift from the basement carpark was hard work, especially carrying bags and a baby. But, its only a small staircase. The air-con was difficult to adjust without directions which meant the first two nights were uncomfortably hot. The third morning there was no hot water. The traffic noise each morning seemed very loud. The The only thing I could criticize was that we wanted to have a little dessert at the foyer bar at 10:15pm and they stopped serving any food at 10:00!. Two nights we experienced difficulty accessing room service and chose to eat at other restaurants. Breakfast was expensive at $21 for just continental. The selection of fresh fruit was a bit boring. We politely let them know we decided not to have buffet because of the price and they were great. We ended up having toast and coffee instead and ate our own fruit later. Staff gave conflicting and confusing information on how to get to mona and where to park the car. No free wi-fi!!!couldn't believe that a hotel of this quality would not have free wi-fi. Their courtesy business computers are slow and old so paying for a time-connect just does not work. The staff were a bit slack. Requests had to be repeated a couple of times before anything was done. Also, they gave us wrong directions to a Dark Mofo event which meant we wasted money on a cab when we could have walked. It was a bit noisy at times with the traffic but it didn't stop me getting a good night's sleep! The bedside lamps were disappointing because they did not give enough light to read in bed. Very disappointed that my booking was incorrect. I had ordered twin share and was told that they only had a king size bed available. I had booked two months ahead and assumed this was surely enough time to get bedding requirements correct. Nothing. Can't think of a thing!. Waiting time for evening meals ordered....I guess it might have being busy those evenings. Couch/lounge chair looked a bit worn. I think to add $5 onto a room order is a bit steep. I could not book directly with the hotel which was a bit strange. Queue at breakfast. . our room was showing signs of wear and tear,stained carpet,old furniture,mould in the shower,dropping hand basin tap. The lift was slow, even during the morning when the many conferences were underway. On the first night, my room service took ages to arrive, and the food was below average. The bar area was busy, but it took quite some time for staff to clear my table of the previous people's afternoon tea. Struggling to think of a dislike. Nothing not to like. ablsolutely nothing to report. Having to pay for parking. Should be free for patrons.
