Almost everything: The staff was really nice, which managed to understand me through my horrid english, and were always there to help with anything. The rooms were clean and nice. Staying with two people attending the same Con i was on, i had real fun there. With the lowest price i could find around, YHA Manchester offers great quality. The con will be held again next year, and i know YHA will be my accomodation choice for it.

I travelled down and stayed on the 18th June 2013 in a quadruple room with friends and it was fantastic!! Well worth the it for the price. Will be staying again. Gem x. Staff were sooooo helpful, gave us taxi numbers a little map showed us how to get to the arena and the tram station, room was nice and clean, basic but that's what you pay for and expect. The food was superb, we really didn't expect to eat there but had a quick bite before heading out. Very modern, clean environment. All facilities are of a high standard and security is good with 24 hour reception. Rooms only have 4 beds in so it's quiet. Great value for money and very civilized by usual hostel standards with a big lounge area and separate TV room. Reception was inviting, spacious and clean. Food was amazing and well presented which we really didn't expect. Room was fairly large, beds were comfy. We had an en suite. Parking was also free to hotel guests. The hotel staff were extremely helpful. Location was great. It is a good place to be if you are up for the weekend as a group of young people ready to party. You do not feel that you are treading on anyone's toes with your noise e.t.c. Food options were fantastic. Very generous. i like the place the canal i spend most of the night taking pictures, and be side the yah manchester science museum where u can got some ideas about the historical part of the city. and it will take 10min walking to be in the city center. The beds were very comfortable and the choice of the breakfast was great and cheap for what you get. Its central location is great, being only about half a mile from the Science and Industry Museum and very close to the trams and trains. Great. Quiet location. I really like the location and as a first time YHA guest was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the reception/lounge area was. I wasn't told about how to sign my car into the car park until I asked after 2 hours of being there. It took me a long time to find the place as there are no signs from the main road to say where the youth hostel is. Towels needs additional fee. No free internet wifi! (The really only drawback). Not very well signposted, I had trouble finding it. Lack of soap in bathrooms and kitchen. 10am cheeckout time ... though it did get us up and out!. Finding the place was a nightmare if you didn't have a sat nav - and I didn't. Very fraught. But I made it - somehow. YHA didn't appear to be on any signs anywhere. The museum on Liverpool road would have made a useful marker. Very minor detail, but we couldn't find the plug sockets and had to ask reception - they were located behind the bunk and not highly visible!. Bit noisy with groups returning in the early hours. Not the 10 minutes walk to city centre expected...more like a 20 minute hike but we got free bus in and £1 tram back. The checkout is very early at 10 am. 10am checkout is very early. Some soap in the in-room bathrooms would have been appreciated. Nothing. No free Internet connection. Rooms were far too warm ( was a warm day though). Trains rumbling through at night time. Staff weren't and there seemed to be an extra charge for everything. portaloo style bathroom cabins. En suite could be better but for the price it was good value. That I couldn't stay longer!. Too close to the railway. Nothing. The bar was quiet romantic, but its ok. We stayed in room 101 wich was facing the main corridor door so was abit noisey through the night,but bareable for one night. The Location is in castlefield which make it a little bit far from some places. I was glad I read reviews first as I took my own extension plug as there was two plugs in the room but only one worked-same in all the rooms which was weird but luckily I took my plug from home so had 4 sockets instead of one!. Lack of soap in the shower. Dificult to find. The internet was not very good at all. A group of guys keeping us awake in the small hours. We were a family with a small baby, perhaps groups should be accommodated away from families.
