One of the friendliest, most personable hotels I have stayed in (and have been to a lot). We had a big PR event to do and stayed aswell and nothing was a problem! From the reception to the restaurant everyone here made you feel so welcome! I want to move in... The bedroom was amazing, beautiful in fact. We stayed for our first wedding anniversary, which the hotel was perfect for. The roof terrace is fab! If I wasn't already married I would love to get married at this hotel.
all reviews » All the staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel design, especially the room was excellent and its adaptation from its original function as a school was very well done. Location was great. The staff were excellent, it was my wifes birthday and they upgraded our room and had some hand made chocolates waiting for us,a brilliant experience in a great central location,i will be back. Beautiful hotel, enjoyed our stay very much although we didn't have as much time to enjoy the beautiful room and surroundings. Staff excellent and had wonderful breakfast before leaving. room was fab great bed and the bathroom was the best in Manchester . Great position very quiet but near to good bars shops and places to eat .Good staff and very clean very nice. The hotel is perfectly situated for Castlefield and the city centre. The rooms are fabulous, and the rooftop garden with hot tub are great. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone!. i love the decor - and the ambience and the roof is cool, also the bar downstairs is stylish. this is the 5th time i've stayed there i love it, especially the rooms. Its a beautiful unique hotel. Its very opulent and being small has really nice feel. The roof garden and the hot tub make the hotel even better!. Lovely quiet location but close to city centre, It was our anniversary and there was a lovely tray of chocolates and greeting in the room. The room was great loved the big bath and roomy shower. The fact that classic fm was playing on the sound system when we arrived. The hotel is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. The bath in the room was great and the location of the hotel perfect. The staff were pleasant and courteous and the food was decent. didnt stay long enough!. We did the afternoon champagne tea, the presentation was so pretty, champagne and sandwiches were great, but I would have preferred to have a choice of teas. must admit there is nothing i didnt like. Cant think of anything. Awkward plug sockets in room Room top bar shut too early for Dec evening. The air conditioning unit in the room (28) made a noise like a vibrating phone every 20 minutes or so. Rathew slow staff, also We had a slight problem with our bill at the end, they charged us for breakfast which we didn't have. The guests that night were exceptionally noisey and woke us up many times. Also the arrival of a group of giddy bridesmaides In the room next door at 7.30 the following Saturday morning was very annoying. The lie in we hoped for never existed! Note to self . .take ear plugs!. Nothing. The bed was small and quite hard and the airconditioning didnt work. We couldnt use the full playground and upstairs bar area on both our nights due to private events which meant service was slow (at one time we had to telephone the hotel to get drinks served in the playground) and we had to go back to our room to use the toilets as the bar area ones were closed to guests at the hotel. Nothing. The lack of sound proofing in between each room. Breakfast pricey but other than that I totally loved it. It's in Manchester. Breakfast a little bit poor. people smoking outside hotel and smoke wafting into reception noisy air conditioning. Poor Tv - not many chanels. Nothing!. A few issues with cleanliness but nothing major. The staff were very rude and we had a terrible experience with them. They were in helpful and came across as patronising. The hotel was booked out for an event so we couldn't sit down to eat our lunch and out bags were delivered to the wrong room. Bathroom upstairs/ room sevice breakfast...no butter (only flora)for my toast/no salt and pepper/cold coffee/no hairdrier when we arrived and the first one they brought didn't work/TV in bedroom was behind a pillar/not able to use the roof garden because of a private function,surely there should have been a reduction in our room rate? It was one of the reasons we chose Great John Street. We were very dissapointed that we could not access any of the bars due to private functions and it spoilt the night completeley. We coomplained when checking out as we were only told of this on ou arrival, however we were told when we checked out that a message had been left on my phone but I did not receive this message. Very upset about this!!!! Also the room was very hot during the night. They had a wedding on & the noise from the band stopped us from sleeping. The hotel is impractical( wardrobe in the lounge and bedroom upstairs!!) most of all the hotel is uncomfortably hot!! The air con was noisy and will not go under 20degrees. A very uncomfortable night. I expected a lot more from a hotel chargeing over £250 for bed and breakfast.
