The staff were brilliant and really put themselves out for us. They upgraded us to a massive double suite with champagne and chocolates. It was our 25th Anniversary and they put themselves out..even putting rose petals on the bed at night while we were out. They could not have done a better job...thank you Ritz. We are away in Nice, France but intend to write directly to them to thank them, on our return.
all reviews » Everything. Excellent staff with personable, friendly, helpful and courteous manner. Nothing snooty or subservient or obsequious either. Breakfast was fantastic. Smooth, easy process for us. The complimentary champagne on our first night was unexpected and greatly appreciated. We were on our honeymoon and "splashing out" as a one off but the one off will be our first choice anytime we are in London. The staff makes a point to remember your name, so every time you return they say welcome back Mr.____. It is very classic luxury in the old sense, very Edwardian and historic. The bar is art deco and the drinks, while expensive, are superb. What can you say, it is the Ritz. The staff were very friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The room was super with all the extra little touches which my daughter loved. The location was exactly what we wanted and very quite considering the road. A real treat and we will be returning. The atmosphere is amazing, your made to feel so welcome, I had said before arrival that it was my fiancées birthday within an hour of being in our room, they brought my fiancé a birthday cake was a lovely touch. Breakfast was great and room was lovely and spacious. Attentive friendly and helpful staff, particularly Michael who greeted us at the door. A quiet calm oasis in the middle of London! Brilliant location. Excellent food & beverages (including cocktails). Lots of towels and plentiful supply of great toiletries!. Everything! Well, it was in a world that not many of us would visit very often. It was at times slightly surreal. Don't go with a budget, just go for the experience. Excellent and polite staff. The size of the plasma screen. All we can add would be that there was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. We also feel that an iron and ironing board should be ever present, rather than brought up. However, we don`t want to be churlish by mentioning this as it is not the end of the world. Also, we did not see a mini bar in the rooms...but If it was there it was probably best that we did not see it!!!. Had to leave. Wish it was cheaper, but I guess it wouldn't be the Ritz if it were. There is absolutely nothing that we did not like,. Housekeeping got muddled up with requests a couple of times. Nothing. mini bar prices. Nothing. There was nothing that we didn't like. Felt we were unfairly treated about cost of one of our nights accommodation. Nothing!. Having to leave!. The shower in the bathroom was not the best No tea/coffee in rooms. Our bathroom was really poorly equipped for such a hotel - no vanity mirror or electric shaver point and the ceiling lamps faded in and out. Nothing. Slightly over diligent on service - my boyfriend was asked by 4 people if he wanted them to take his case (now we all know why he kept saying no!). Nothing. Nothing at all. The showers I took were uncomfortable being low pressure and continually changing from hot to cold in temperature. nothing. Nothing. Seating in public areas which limited . This is then reserved as a resident I found this annoying. Cost! But to be expected at a hotel of this standard!. £7.00 for a small bottle of Evian water and even more for a small jar of M and Ms from the mini bar in the room. However we didn't need to buy any as a larger, free, courtesy bottle of water was placed at the bed side following the bed being turned down. Thank you. at breakfast next morning they bought the wrong order and the waiter found it difficult to understand english. i re ordered poached haddock . it was disgracefull, the skin was tougth and the inside was dry.it reminded me of one warmed up inh the microwave.i had no time to re order. just saying i wont charge you for it doesnt cut it when its spoiled your husbands birthday weekend. The bathroom needed upgrading. You can feel an expiration of time - it isn't old but not fresh. Mini bar should be included in such luxury hotel. The bathrooms have marble and are big but their decoration could be improved The dress code is a bit too strict, no sport shoes even for breakfast !. Very limited in terms of soap, shower gel, shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. Very limited in terms of british tv channels. Lots of cinternational channels but hardly any uk tv channels. Creaky floors in the room too when you walk across the room. nothing. having to wear a tie in the restaurant. We didn't like the ' back-yard' view from the rather small window.
