The simplicity of the room and the easy access. Perfect for my trip.

The location was close to the centre of Edinburgh. The staff were nice. Handy to have a kitchen.
Access to building was not so light and away from main thoroughfare so felt a bit uncomfortable walking alone there at night.
A 2% charge required to use a credit card is extortion.
Cleaning could have been better.
Small bathroom and shower(are you really overweight you will not fit in the shower).
The drawers were not cleaned and were full of hairs. Also, there was no record of my booking and so there was a little merry-go-round whilst they sorted my room. The girl on reception was very nice about it though and handled it well. If I were a student though, I would have lamented the lack of a shared space. It seems important.
white noise (from air con?) could not be switched off. Sofa not easy to sit on, bed very small and uncomfortable. No bath mat or tea towels.
There was a leaking toilet, had to change room on first morning. There was a problem with an alarm system in the second room which rang all night. I wrote to the management afterwards, I got an email promising that the matter would be dealt with immediately, and then never heard from them again despite a reminder.
