the staff were very helpful. they gave us a very big room and it was on the first floor which was very helpful considering i'm pregnant and had two young children with me.there is a bar in the hotel which allowes children in it so if you fancy a drink you can relax with your children. Would definatly recommend this hotel. excellent,lovely room,bar very god,food excellent,staff very attentive and friendly,booked taxi without any problem for us.Also very good at giving information to other guests about Edinburgh ,very informative.We will be going back and maybe taking our dog the next time.

We stayed in five different hotels throughout the two week stay and this was by far the most plesant. Great value for the money. Very hospitable owner/manager, friendly staff, clean comfortable room, quiet at night and excellent complimentary breakfast. The location is also good for the city centre and castle (10 mins walk) and ideal for Rugby fans going to Murrayfield.Our room was enourmous and well decorated. The hotel is in a great location - within walking distance to the town centre. The staff were extremly hospitable and helpful. I was very pleased with the location and the welcome provided by the staff who were very friendly indeed. I definitelywould consider this hotel if I visit Edinburgh in the future. Didn't realise the bar was in one building and the diningroom and my hotel room in the other. I had kids with me and couldn't sit in the bar while they were in bed as it was in a seperate building; should have been described in advertisement!. There is no access from the room to the balcony just across the room.all the steps up to the room. the phone didnt work so we couldnt speak to my duaghter and her friend who were on basement level. The shower was a little damaged and a curtain in the room was hanging down a little, but these were only minor issues.The digital freeview box was broken. The inside of the main building entrance looked a bit too old.Breakfast. moquettes in the rooms..but anyway all the hotel in uk have a moquettes!!. no lift. Wireless internet connection did not work in 3 days stay ( there is a cheap Internet cafe in 5 min. walk from hotel).Remember to bring your own shampoo/ conditioner with you. Surprisingly they do not provide these small plastic hotel shampoos, which are usually bad anyway and big waist. Maybe a bodyshampoo pump fixed to shower wall would be reasonable to install in a so good hotel anyway.
