What people say
This was without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable UK stays I have ever had. The hotel exceeded my expectations. Though rooms were small, they were well appointed, efficiently arranged and meticulously kept. The staff was stellar, the restaurant exceptional and the location as perfect as could be. I have stayed at the Hilton Caledonian previously but will stay at the Apex for all future visits. all reviews »
The staff were really helpful, nothing was any bother. The bed was really comfortable (and huge), the hotel is in a good location with a quiet area nearby but the main town just minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was beautiful, as was the view. And the location was perfect. Clean, tidy room with good facilities and friendly staff. Very close to the main attractions. The front desk was very helpful.Your staff were so kind when my daughter was taken ill and hospitalized. It was our first trip abroad, and their help and friendship was invaluable. Fiona and others really tried to make me feel secure on those days when my daughter was so ill. I appreciated their kindness. it was a quiet atmosphere - although the hotel is situated in the centre. Comfortable in a modern style. Everything was good. staff were friendly and eager to help. Room was appointed well and very clean. relaxed atmosefere. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. The staff were really helpful and pleasant. Quiet room, good view. comfort and good food. location. Great location for central Edinburgh. Friendly welcome, it was handy. Rooms were well sound proofed from outside noise. Room service was carried out all through the day and was efficient. Rooms were clean and hotel was well located. Hotel staff were friendly. The receptionist at the frontdesk was very helpful and polite and the view of the castle from our room was excellent. I liked that it was near enough to the city.good location. Very central and gave us a quiet room as requested. nice hotel and vrey helpful staff. Everything is fine.the location was great, you could walk anywhere. the staff were always helpul and friendly.Convenient location. The location. the bar lounge, the bed room, hotel location. I have never seen the 4star hotel which dosen`t have bath tub.The room rate is really a 4star but facilities is a 2star.The check in Staff was excellent. The location, the convenient car park,. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the centre. One of the tours booked was not acceptable - a Scottish dinner at the Thistle Inn. Food was horrible, vocal performances embarrassing and atmosphere tacky. Busloads of tourists. We were looking for a celebration of Scottish culture and saw a parody instead. The DVD player didn't work but this is a minor quibble as we probably weren't going to use it.Would have preferred a buffet style breakfast. it was very cold in the breakfast-room but I think scottish people like it. Parking was down the street. Trainee at the desk had a hard time checking us in. breakfast was not included within the price. Our stay was excellent the only poor aspect was the room service - both times our order was incorrect, ie missing items we ordered and in both instances the food was warm not hot. Apart from that our stay was most enjoyable. Room was cold and heating not working, had to ask for an electric heater. the attitude of the front of house staff and also the food in the resturant. The romm smelt of cigarette smoke which was not very pleasant. I thought all hotel rooms had to be non smoking now? I did have a word with one of the staff next day. I find it very unpleasant to have to sleep in a room where someone has been smoking, as I am a non smoker myself.i had four bites when i woke up over the two days and i never get bitten. also i had to ask for a clean pillowcase as one had a dark stain on. i cant help thinking the bed clothes were not as fresh as they should be and i wonder what was lurking in there to bite me - i would be grateful for your comments. my mother also said that she could smell men's hair gel on her pillowcase. wait ur response. It was advertised with a lovely bar downstairs which we were looking forward to having a drink at, but there was a private party on and we were put in a stuffy meeting room with no windows upstairs. Also the mattress had a spring sticking out of it at the bottom which i kept catching my foot on. These were one off things though as last time we stayed, 2 years ago, it was much better.Room was quite small; no hair dryer. The room was misleading, very small for a Superior. We upgraded when we arrived but it cost quite a bit extra.poor parking facilities, poor communication from staff, picked up parking ticket while checking into hotel. non-smoking room smelt of smoke, near by rooms were smoking...Breakfast staff was paranoid about payment, were not helpful. Very poor value for money in relation to the food served in the restaurant. Room was not quite as requested. too bad, this could be a great hotel.Champagne we ordered for our rm on arrival was Cava...£33 is an awful lot for Cava! Toiletries and tea/coffee in rm were described as fabulous! Below average and no shower cap...I'm sure thats just a basic?? We paid for and expected something with special extras...the hotel just did not live up!. The bathroom floor was very dirty, a customer before us spilled coffee on the closet, this wasn't cleaned. The beds were quite short and the blankets came up just above my chest. We ordered a wake-up call at 6.30 in the morning, this never came through. The curtains were badly stained. A twin room was booked, however I was allocated a double.
