Warm welcome on arrival, and very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant and an excellent breakfast the following morning, again the staff couldn't have been nicer. Thank you. I felt relaxed and valued as a customer. The food was great value andthe room was nicely decorated. Oh! I adored the Arran Aromatiquetoiletries, a lovely luxurious touch.

The spa facilities made the hotel which is very shabby, I understand it is under renovation however we did not like the ugly buildings attached to the lovely old manor house. The dining room was in the old manor house which was temporary but made it very lovely as this old building is beautiful.That the hotel could accomodate my larger than average family and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. Noises from the heating system were somewhat annoying and would have made it an uncomfortable night for anyone who is a light sleeper. the refurbishment, and only one person on reception at checking out time, which resulted in a lengthy wait. Breakfast ladies are brilliant. Previous guest reviews about the hotel unfair and almost caused me not to book - glad I did because staff and and facilities were excellent. The rooms were too hot (with the exception of one which was too cold. There was a continual ticking noise in the room. my room was not made so i had to change rooms, then my room had a t.v that didn't work. i was disapointed. the central heating very noisey. found the bed rather uncomfortable, but did not spoil our stay. Saw signs that the hotel is to be refurbished soon, which I think it is in need of. Poor cheese-board, one great scottish cheese underdescribed a great asset, the rest rather tired and not scottish. Wine not arriving with meal.Only a stool to sit on to work at the desk, too low with poor support. Food preparation and presentation could have been better.The evening meal could have been better. Could not get channel 3 on the telly!!!. Central heating was noisy. Needs some decorative repair. The hotel is in despirate need of redecoration. The wallpaper was peeling in the corridors. The room was clean and ok though. The pool area also needs upgrading with lots of tiles missingetc. Quite old fashioned. Room service menu very poor and the food was cold.Cocktail bar facilities quite disappointing. Lack of liquers for coffees and inability of staff to produce a liquer coffee after having a lovely meal. car parking space in front of hotel should be reserved for guests only, not day visitors and leisure centre users. Breakfast was very busy due to the presence of a coach party and consequently staf were too rushed for smooth operation leading to a short delay. some of the fabric of the building was a bit tired. Extremely disappointed that the children could not go for a swim after 7pm as we didn't arrive at the hotel until after 6pm and we had promised the children a swim. This was new from previous year and it would have helped had we been notified of this in advance. the whole point of staying at a hotel with a pool was so the children could go swimming. The breakfast was only average and you get better value for money with food travelling into Dundee.All the doors bang very loudly. the decor is looking rather tired but this could be inproved with better house keeping nearly all the carpets needed a good hoover esp in the dinning room and round the edges in the bedrooms.
