I did my business meetings at the hotel and my son enjoyed the GYM, the pool and sure the free fast internet. Buffet breakfast was fine, also the seafood dinner at the restaurant was great, the harbor is few min walk but i preferred the flight to Zanzibar at just $50 one way ticket from Coastal Aviation, and trip was such a lovely excursion on a 10 seat one engine plane, with a gorgeous view of the nature. I stayed one night and will stay again on my way back from Zanzibar.
all reviews » They upgraded me to a massive suite at a price lower than even their most affordable listed price. Assuming that had to do with last minute booking and is probably not always available, but still appreciated it. Service was very good. The check in staff were very helpful and our car arrived at the ferry port which was very handy due to having lots of luggage. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I ended up being quite ill and they tried their best to help me get medicines/food. Very spacious, great comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, good amenities. The hotel is comfortable and good located. Greate hotel -greate value. The view, the service. Has great staff. The room was lovely and there was free wifi. I like the room where I stayed. Nothing. Shuttle to the airport was way overpriced at 50,000 tzs ($30 usd). Next time I'll take my chances with a taxi (30,000 tzs / $18 usd). Some parts of the room are tired. The bathroom was not that clean - mould in shower, no shower door, hot water or much water coming out of the shower head. If this was improved I would have given a much higher score. Not being able to access restaurant/bar/gym from central lifts. Also the entry to the hotel seemed shared with other businesses; The set up of the building was a bit awkward. Broken toilet seat, a/c did not work. Elevators are really horrible. You have to reach 22th floor first and take a different elevator to go out. For example, if you stay 9th floor, you have to go to 11th floor first, then walk min 50 mt to another elevator to Grand floor. There is a construction next to hotel, construction works in the night also, people yell and mechine voices, it is noisy. Only one express lift to the hotel. The rooms are on the upper floors of a complex and not all elevators take you to ground level so it was a bit of a circuit to exit the hotel. There are limited restaurants nearby. Felt unsafe in the city at night. Noise from construction activities. The good was average and very ex!pensive. There was also no HOT water. This hotel is not secure. It feels very upmarket and modern but my room was broken into and my personal items stolen - including my camera with all my holiday pictures. I learned from the police that this is a regular problem at the hotel and the head of security also complained that they are not given the ability to provide adequate security. The General Manager was not helpful or kind about the robbery - and was more worried about protecting his reputation.
