Consider that this hotel was at the end of an adventurous tour of Oman (including camping) - Quiet and relaxing area

  I'd really like the ambiance of Hotel,more on relaxing with Outdoor Pool and garden.Room were most spaciuos the Bar was Excellent and also the DJ he played nice Music.The Reception staff and Restaurant were friendly staff was excellent. I meet One Staff in the Bar his name Ruwan - Sri Lanka. His really kind and accomodating to all Guest. Keep up... what people say » the good work buddies.   The Sohar Crowne is a beautiful hotel. My room was immaculate, modern, and spacious. They have free no hassle wireless. The bath tub was deep and so relaxing. My bed and pillows were heavenly. Most of all, the staff were so kind and helpful. Everything I required, they provided. The desk staff even walk you to your room to make sure it is fine.   Desert Retreat Camp is a relatively small camp with some 16 tents / units. It is located nicely on a flat area next to massive sand dunes some 21 km south of the village of Al Wasil, on the main road running north of Whaba Sands. The first 9 km are tarmac, the next 11 farily easy driving through gravel and some sand. Doable with a 2 wheel drive, b... what people say » ut 4x4 is preferable. If you do not have a 4x4 or prefere to leave yur car at Al Wasil, Humaid, the owner will take you to the camp (for a fee a belie - This was a wonderful get-away place! Humaid (owner/manager) was very well spoken, kind, and accommodating. I loved the dune bashing and camel ride as well as the food, atmosphere, and quietness/calmness that the place created. I highly recommend to anyone. There are other camps in the area that are larger, but I don't think they have the same 1:1 that Desert Retreat does.
