The location is excellent, particularly if you are taking the Hurtigruten boat along the coast. The embarkation point is 50 metres away. The hotel is central, and the tourist office and airport bus stop are even closer. Its great virtue is that it is cosy and friendly, and you are encouraged to use it as a base whether you have checked out or not. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. There is free coffee and tea available at all times, and you can make waffles from lunchtime onward.
all reviews » The hotel is very clean, comfortable and environmentally conscious. The room was comfortable with heated bath room floors. The staff is very helpful and breakfast is very good with a wide variety. The complimentary afternoon waffles are fantastic. You cannot beat the location. The hotel is in the center of everything and a two minute walk from the airport bus, Hurtigruten ship terminal, popular bars and restaurants and main shopping strip. Good location. Easy to the bus station, tourist office, ship station and main hotel pick-up station (Raddison and Rica hotels). The single room is tiny but very comfortable and provide everything you need! Breakfast is good and the staff even managed to arrange the early breakfast (I had to leave before 5:30 am to catch the flight and the breakfast was ready before this time! Quite sweet and nice of the staff!). The welcome from the young man on the entrance desk was 100%. He went out of his way to ensure we had all that we needed. He was courteous, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. He stored our luggage while we went sight seeing and told us about the waffles available before we left for the ferry to Harstad. Fantastic choice at breakfast and coffee available most times. The room was clean, comfortable and warm with plenty of space to store snow boots and coats without traipsing wet on the rug. The room (single) is small, but everything is comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful. Gourmet breakfast (and they are willing to serve it earlier for an early departures). Nothing, it was a great place to stay. it is expensive compared to other countries, but that's just Norway. Breakfast was delicious with wide offering but wished for better bacon and scrambled eggs options. Seems undercooked and eggs powdered. All other foods greats. Also need a more powerful (updated) hairdryer. Nothing at all. Bed was very uncomfortable as mattress was far too soft and doona too hot for sleeping. Curtains don't obscure completely, sleeping in summer could be difficult for light sleepers. Oversized cushion, uncomfortable. Sadly, no bidet in the bathroom. In common with everyone else Norway is expensive but that is not a fault of the Amalie, just difficult to accept it was excellent value but in relation to others we looked at it was. A small thing, but very important...the pillows on the bed! They were far too small. That is all really. Two single beds pushed together instead of a double. Nothing. Norway is expensive, but everyone know this. No gym - but knew in advance and didn't expect in a small hotel. But would be a big deal to me if staying longer than 3 nights, especially with ice on the streets!. Everything was perfect. Price - but everywhere is expensive in Tromso in Feb. Nothing. The rooms were a bit small. No safe in room. Evening eating options.
