I loved the sustainable approach they took, from the organic and local grown foods to the sustainable approach to management and amenities. The bath towels were unbleached natural cotton and the laundry must use eco friendly soaps because my son didn't get allergic reactions when he slept. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and the included organic breakfast was excellent. We all loved the short walk to Aker Trygge and then to downtown, but then having the option to take a troll.
all reviews » Fantastic place to stay- Located very close to the port and the island of Bygdoy where all the museaums are is about a 3 mile walk/trek along the yacht filled quayside which is great day out-(if this is too long take the boat from pier 3)Hotel Looks somewhat unremarkable outside apart from the light fittings but design is a key element internally. Staff extremely helpful throughout the hotel- Coffee and tea/juice available and free wi-fi is always nice- Bedrooms somewhat smallish but given pri. Loved the fact that all of the hotel is eco-themed from organic food to the wellness products in the bathroom and spa (really lovely!) The imac in the room is a great change from a regular tv and the free spa is definitely also a plus! The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Location is great; Akker Brygge, city hall, pier with ferries and so on are all just 2 streets away. We were only there for the weekend and managed to visit lots of things and have a great time in and around the hotel. Good quiet location, just out of the centre of town but only 10 mins by tram to Central Station. Very near the new Aker Brygge development by the old docklands area full of brilliant contemporary buildings, a stunning new art gallery and lots of restaurants. We had a superior room with a good sized sitting area (2 Apple Macs) and plenty of space, which was excellent. Breakfast was good with a wide range of organic food. Oslo is wonderful!. It's a fantastic hotel: rooms are nice and comfy and reasonably prced: for Norwegian standard this i sreally Value for Money! Complimentary wi-fi is at stop speed and you also have an Apple TV in the room. No excuse for not being able to caatch up with work (or FB friends). Break fast is "healthy sytle" with local organic food. They now have also a restaurant on site which I am looking forward to try!. Great location just a few minutes away from central Oslo. Breakfast was all that I could ask for in terms of choice and good quality food. Spa facilities were a nice added bonus. Staff all extremely helpful and friendly. The iMac was a great idea and should be used more in other hotels, it really enhanced our experience when in the hotel. My Star at The Hotel was wonderful. Large wonderfully equipped room with enough space a perfectly functioning iMac a cosy bed and a perfectly clean bathroom. From the welcome at reception to the delicious breakfast, from the pieces of the bathroom equipment to the cosy blankets - A++. Lovely room design, a little cosy but the price reflects this definitely. Great to have an Imac in the room and they even refunded money against a download that wouldn't work on it for some unknown reason. Great little hotel and we will be returning. So guests who has time to enjoy spa should definitely consider this hotel. There is a great attention to detail in this design hotel. There are iMacs in the rooms and the organic local toiletries. It can't be too expensive to regularly withdraw damaged items. Not doing so creates a bad impression. The fact that the restaurant is not open on Monday evening. Not a major issue as there are plenty around, it's just that I wanted to try it and I will need to plan my next vist accordingly. We are seasoned travelers and really loved everything about this hotel!. Very little not to like. Thought the iMac was a bit of a gimmick as, these days, most people who want access to the internet while travelling will have iPads etc and the tray with mouse and keyboard was just a bit of clutter in a room which was adequately sized but not large. Size of room is very small, breakfast needs to be improved. There could have been a balcony or a terrasse. Really a minor thing: no car park in the hotel. There are anyway spaces around it. Just be aware that in Norway you are not allowed to park less than 5 meters from a street corner. No TV in the room, only an iMac which I found impossible to navigate because the keyboard kept switching itself off. I like to keep up with the news when I am travelling on business, which I usually do via a TV. I had to try and find the few channels that I can view outside of the UK on my laptop and the hotel wifi. I really do not understand why they have chosen iMacs in place of TV sets. I was told at reception that there were no TV channels! Bonkers!!. Room are slightly small, but still confortable. No comment. They serve COLD scramble eggs and bacon during the breakfast that is not tasty at all. The hotel has a free spa but the staff didn’t inform us about it during our 3-night stay. The towels are a bit rough (eco-friendly material…) and are dried on an unsteady wooded ladder that is not very convenient. Also iMac offers an application with a fireplace that can’t be launched due to user rights limitation. I’m assuming only maids can use it…. Nothing specifit to mention. There is nothing I would fault about the hotel. It was the right place for my trip and its prices lower than other equivalent places I looked up. Egg & Bacon at breakfast was truly terrible and served under a warm lamp. When a warm lamp is needed than you already know that the quality is poor. did not like the small rooms, if you have baby then you do not have place, even for your bags. Lack of a television - the iMac didn't quite make up for that. I would had prefer roomservice or a restaurant in the hotel when i arrived at night, but none existed. Other than that no complains. Location is a little far from the railway sation. No TV in the room. Very complicated to use IMac when you are not used to it. small bathroom, but nearly the same in all Norway !. Sauna was too cold, and noisy with the kids. The beauty creams were all used up unfortunately. Toilet is too small, cleaning still has space to improve, close to the apartment buildings so have to close the curtain all the time. A little bit worn - cupboard door handle missing, paint peeling off the bottom of the bathroom door. no off street parking. A regular TV is more convenient in such a small room - the tray that held the mouse and keyboard for the Mac was inconvenient. Parking in the street only - may take a while to find a spot. Can be loud at night since its close to the bars/restaurants district. Drunk singing and yelling. nothing. Room a bit small. I did not like the fact that they use animal skins as bedspreads. Little bit noisy. None. No frills.
