The location is nice, close to the center, to the port where Hurtigruten ferry docks and overllooking the sea. The two rooms we rent - very clean - were quiet, bright and sufficiently spacious. Breakfast was good and offered a wide choice of food. A suggestion: at least once, have diner at the restaurant of hotel, at the tables outside that overlook the Norwegian sea. Great location - handy for all the harbours, shops, restaurants. Room was quite large and comfortable. The window opened fully. Sea view. Quiet. Breakfast was really good..lots of it. Good choice. Internet access from a computer in the lounge.
all reviews » Caroline at the reception was very efficient to change the room we were given to the qualities we asked for. Breakfast was very good, and location excellent. Public relations by the young ladies was excellent and nothing was a problem to them. Closeness to the ship and permitting us to use Hotel while waiting. I upgraded to a Club room, which was excellent. Location was good and restaurant was good for dinner. Bar terrace by the sea was super. Layout of business room made it feel cramped. i didn't like the room which was not what you would expect of a 4 star hotel. Wi-Fi in business class room poor. I was at the end of the hotel which may account for this but should have been better. Breakfast buffet uninspiring. Staff was not able to include my mileage program into the system (United) and they asked me to do it. The cold weather. No parking. Starts to be a little worn down. did not like early breakfast. The hotel has no own parking lot. I think that a 4 stars category hotel should supply its guests with a free of charge car parking, or at least cheaper. Not all rooms have a view of the water, mostly you can only see the loading bay(in the port). I did not get a bathtub on the room as I requested, and the ocean view that was highlighted in the order when ordering business class was a view directly into a container area/docking area. Parking is a problem. Hard to find a free space. And of course it is not free. No one was on reception for 10 minutes. Extremely slow internet with very weak signal in rooms. Smelly towels in the bathroom. Seems like they were washed with vinegar. Both sink and bath are not working well and water is not flushing properly. Air con is not working. And on top if that all - extremely overpriced. Stay away. View!. All good. noisy. Staff although polite lacking friendliness and not going that little " extra mile" to make our stay memorable; they just tick the boxes and do their job; The hotel is run down , carpets and chairs stained, Breakfast ok nothing special and anything we asked for was a hassle; although the male waiter in the cafe when we had breakfast was very nice and trying to be helpful , at least he tried to do more than he was asked for. the room is very plain. Room far to small very expensive Reception staff did not understand English. the cleanliness of the hotel is at its worst. I wonder how they retain a four star status! we complained of a dirty bed sheet, which was not replaced despite repeated requests. The blocked wash basin was never cleared till our stay and the promise of the hotel staff to change the room was just in air. I don't recommend it to anyone because of the sheer arrogance of the hotel staff and their attitude towards hygiene.
