Location couldn't be better! Restaurant is very good. We caught some fish and they cooked it for us, so we didn't have what was on the menu, but if our dinner is anything to go by they really know what they are doing! Staff is friendly and very helpful, although don't expect them to be your tourist information center. Luckily, that is just a five minute walk away. Breakfast is quite good. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. They exuded warmth and went out of their way to make us welcome. The fireside reception lobby was warm and inviting. The location was superb. Breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip and the breakfast room had a light, warm and friendly feeling with a world class view. Would love to stay here again. Highly recommend.
all reviews » Staff was very friendly, all receptionists were very helpful, we even tipped one receptionist for her outstanding help. Location is simply the best in Alesund. The building appears in the postcards of the city, so it is really the place to be. We had a room with sea view and from the bed we could see the small boats passing by in front of us, that was really unique. The situation on the seaside of Brosundet overlooking the boatvisitors in Ålesund.Very Nice interior of the room With seavieuw. The standard rooms are noticeably small. Get two people with one suitcase ech into a standard double, and you'll have to do quite a bit of maneuvering not to bump into each other. Some may find the minimalistic design off putting, although it may grow on you. We found it very unique that the bathroom was behind a casted glass wall, however this was not necessarly a good idea when one was in the toilet and the other was in the room. We found a solution though by turning on the TV to avoid overhearing unnecessary sounds :-). Nothing. Can't think of anything!. Breakfast would benefit from more of a wow to live up to the rest of the hotel. The room we stayed in was a little small and of course the price is high for non-Norwegian travelers, but neither one of these factors detracted from our stay. Nothing. It's expensive, but that's Norway. By local standards it's good value. Need a little more light in rooms besides the bed lights. Had trouble packing my bags and finding clothes in the morning due to the dim lights. Frustrating for older people. No separate switch for bathroom lights. Nothing. Small room. We did not like the crush of people at the breakfast buffet. Very expensive, quite small room (even business with sea view), a bit noisy. No negative comments to make. norway is quite expensive !. Sound-proofing is NOT good: you can hear people talking in the next rooms as well as in the hallway. A swimming pool would have made it perfect!. Quite expensive. rooms were small but it goes with the territory being built into an old warehouse. due to whitsun week end plus national holiday on the friday, the restaurant was closed all the week end. Rooms a little on the small side. Bar prices and rooms are too dark, need brighter lights. Parking is difficult. I realise as a single traveller your room is usually very small, as was mine. I had nowhere to put my clothes, only coatangers. Also no table. I could tolerate it for 3night. Otherwise i would have complained. I was given a rear facing junior suite, when the hotel was " very quiet - its a public holiday" - why couldn I have been given a sea facing room? I booked in large part because the Norwegian Airways inflight magazine had vaunted the restaurant - No one told me the restaurnat would be closed on the Bank holiday!!.
