Went here for my annivesary. THe staff were professional and friendly. They didn't have the room I booked so they upgraded me to a two bedroom superior suite. The suite was clean and it had to balconies. The bathroom was lovely, and the bath was a lovely bonus. The location was great, central to Courtnay Pl; went to Te Papa and the embassy. I had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone.
all reviews » The room was nice, sleek and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the staff made our stay welcoming, relaxing and ensured they knew our names for that extra personal touch. We would definitely rebook this facility in the near future and have recommended Distinction to our friends and family. We arnt a massive 'Hotel booking' kind of people, but the whole process was made very easy. I liked the accesability of the parking to the hotel/rooms. I liked the option of the balcony and the shower. If we wanted to watch tv in bed i like how the wall mount means you can adjust the tv. the original art throughout the rooms and hallways, the friendly staff, the ultra modern look, the large bathroom, huge picture window and balcony overlooking Wellington with the hills behind, the close proximity to theaters, museums and city center. easy access to shops, cafes, transport,comfortable bed, interesting furniture but somewhere to put non-hanging clothes would be good. Maybe if ironing board was next to wardrobe rather than in it some shelving could be added to wardrobe. Our apartment on first floor was mod very comfy and well equipped with kitchen and laundry facilities and located close to vibey restaurants museum and waterfront but surprisingly quiet with free parking on site good value for money. Have stayed previously - I appreciate the stylish, clean, uncluttered lines of the studio. The bathroom is magnificent - most accommodation does not have sufficient shelving for personal storage. Couldnt reach! I had asked for a nice view like we had on previous visit but got lower floor with view of concrete wall. Not so good. All fabulous thank you. That you couldn't access the rooms via a lift from the garage - but not a biggie as there was a loading bay just outside the front door. Had trouble with key cards, but quickly fixed at reception. Only issue I would question was upon book out I had a breakfast voucher to redeem I had to remind the reception of this to obtain it would have been a nice finishing touch if it had come up on their screen and given without me asking. Room was a bit stuffy/hot during the night but we opened ranch slider and that worked. Only View from balcony was the inside car park which meant nearly no sunshine. I get that I didn't pay for a room with a view, but pretty disappointing when you shut your shades and all you can hear is car noises and there are glowing lights. Also not at all soundproof, could hear everyone's conversations in hallway. Someone in next room put their room service outside their door at 7pm, still there at 10.30 next day! Poor tv reception. Being in a room that had venetians that couldnt be controlled, because the room was beside a large carpark, with lights on all night and traffic early and late. Very poor design. Balconeys just let you be a foot away from carpark floor. Room was a bit cool and the heater didn't warm it up as much as we needed. Was a fairly large storm outside though. The room was not as described on letsbookhotel.com. Room was described as 1 bedroom apartment with private courtyard but in fact was a 1 bedroom apartment with very small private deck! Also there were stains on the carpet in the lounge area. Other than that the standard of the cleaning was excellent. Room open onto very small space between buildings, but this did not cause us any concern. Just one thing, there a coffee table but only one couch seat for the two of us. Having to go thru car park to swimming pool and no toilets in reception. The bed was a little hard for us. As for my first visit there it was very hard to fault it. The staff at reception were so friendly and welcoming and helpful which made first impressions spot on. I would of rated the staff as excellent as when we arrived they were great, however when we were checking out, it appeared that it was an inconvenience to the staff at the front desk, she did not even ask how our room/stay was. We couldn't figure out how the dryer worked and there were no instructions. The place was quite hot and there was no air conditioning. There was no air conditioning in the room and it was too noisy to open the sliding door. The heat in the room. The noise from the cars hooning around carpark in early hours, no coffee,shop/breakfast. ice not available unless made in room. no temperature control other than opening balcony door. At times the noise. having to walk through the car park to get to gym a feeling of being hemmed in due to the proximity of the building next door. when booked online room said it had a bath, the room i was given did not, very disappointing as this was the reason I booked this room. Would have preferred to be on the street side. Back a bit dark. Ridiculous cost of wifi - $12.00 for 200mb. No double glazing for noise, cheap blinds that needed repair and didn't keep the light out very good. Did not like the location of swimming pool and it was cold. We left early because of the earthquake. No tea towel in the kitchen and a jug for water in the fridge would be great. Reception is a bit bland. Pool was a real let down.had to walk thru large basement carpark. No lights on in bunker type building where pool situated. Freezing in the water and out of it. Was perfect for us for the two nights. annoying buzz coming from the circuit box.
