Great position right next to red light district, however on a quiet side street so no disturbing noise. Room on 3rd floor looked like it had been newly renovated and was impeccably decorated and clean. the staff were first class, friendly and helpful and we had a lovely, quiet, relaxing break. The staff were also very informative about what was happening, where and when - excellent.

The staff runs a sweet little bar downstairs which is a nice place to unwind (although I imagine it must get crazy on the weekend). The stairs were steep but not a problem. First stairs as you go up are very steep. They could establish a small elevator for luggages while very difficult to carry them to the room. the stairs ha ha dont take a big suitcase like me.The rooms could use an alarm clock? Downtown is also pretty noisy, so I guess bring ear plugs if you are very sensitive. They are evidently going to renovate the hotel soon (in 2009), and I think that will make the hotel go from being a good value to being an excellent one. 9.30am checkout! Also, my room was very noisy due to nearby church bells.Rooms were very small, but I knew that going in... The stairs are steep. Be wary if arriving back drunk but then you willfind most places in amsterdam centre are like that.romms are small, but it's normal in amsterdam. The staircase was very narrow and steep.thers no hair dryer in the room. The only thing i didn't like about hotel was the stairs and the size of the rooms, to me thats what matters to me when staying somewhere other than home.very basic. The pictures are nothing compared to what the room was. We booked a deluxe room and it wasn't deluxe at all. Room is old, small with bad smell, water from the shower is less than acceptence, no lifts, stairs are not able to walk on, though the receptionist is quite nice. The room was dirty when we had our check in and in stead of apologizing the receptionist ask us to leave and to return in 2 h...
