This was our fourth stay at the Delta, and each visit has been more pleasant than those previous. Delta continues to upgrade the rooms and facilities and we will continue to stay there when we visit Amsterdam. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, the hotel restaurant serves a good varied menu at reasonable prices (15% discount for hotel guests) and the ample breakfast buffet is great!.
all reviews » Very friendly reception and helpful much better than other hotels i have stayed in Amsterdam and for the location the price was excellent.we normally stay at the Van Gelder hotel which is only 4 doors away and the hotel Delta is 90 Euros cheaper per room for the weekend and at the Delta you also get a breakfast included in the price...Coffee,Orange juice..Cerials..Scrambled Eggs..Beans..Bacon..Central location. value for money, Clean and perfect ensuite. central location. was in the centre and was close to what we wanted to see. Great location, value for money and excellent room (espeically the bathroom). I always recommend the Delta!. being near the center of where I needed to be. The location!. hotel staff. What's not to like?. you was asked not to take food or dinks into the room. In case of warmer the fridge is lacking.The shower was o.k but could be improved. That the beds was changed only at the last night, so it was no time to enjoy them.it could have been cleaner on the balcony and surrounding features. Window was left open each day by the cleaning staff and room was cold upon arrival back each day.You could brighten up the foyer as it is a bit of a put off when you first arrive. Staff smoking outside near the doorway. there is something called a city tax which was an unexpected extra that i budgeted for. bit quick to clear away breakfast. room was really, really, really hot. couldn't open one of the windows to get fresh air in. extractor fan in bathroom was very noisy and couldn't be switched off. ceiling was too low (beams were 6 ft from the floor). not enough bacon on the salt at breakfast.The calefaction. It doesn't work ok. A great problem in winter. The shower was a bit odd and took some time to get used too.... Bitnoisy but you are so central to everything and you dont go to Amsterdamto stay in the room the whole time!!!! It was exactly the three of usneeded!!!!. The hotel should do more mantainance job. The heating in the bathroom was broken and the water of the heater was floading, they tried to fix it but they can't. Then we woke up in the middle of the night in a bit cold, we just realized that the main heater in the bedroom didn't work as well because of the broken heater in the bathroom. it happened on the last night of our stay. There is no common place at all except the public bar-restaurant for sitting down, reading, waiting or so on.The breakfast was a joke. 2 types of egg, bacon, 3 cerials, juice and milk, one type of bread - thats it!. There was almost no light above the buffet - could not see anything. Very dirty carpets. Advertised as 3 stars, way below that. Hotel filled with tobacco and cannabis smoke. Rooms smelly.the beds are uncomfortable shower was no good. Reception area is a bit off puting and could do with updating, in fact all areas could do with updating but you get what you pay for. Also bathroom area in our room smelt strongly of damp with mouldy areas on the ceiling.The size of the room. dirty. not clean. We were given the smallest, dirtyest room in the hotel and considering it was booked in may I was very dissapointed as this was our honeymoon.the lift was too slow. This was the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. The lights were dim, one was out, the rug was stained in multiple places, there were spots of unknown origin on the wall and it smelled of stale smoke. In addition to the overall feeling that the room (and windows and rug) were dirty, the layout was weird, the floor was uneven and it wasn't easy to move around or use things based on the layout.we think the hotel is very tiered and in need of a refurbishment .we also were disapointed that we were not offered a none smoking room the one we were in smelt of smoke and so did all the curtains. We had a particularly dirty room, and it rained into the room from theceiling...an adventurous experience...Room was dirty,pillows stained, mouse traps behind furniture,very noisy.Could easily hear people talking in next room.No food or drink allowed in room.Would not recommend this hotel and wont stay again.Room was expensive when all things are considered. Over priced for a very very basic room. I booked late for over Valentine's weekend and basically I got a hovel for 88 Euro's. Not good. I understand why it was one of the few hotels with rooms remaining. The rooms were not especially well decorated, certainly nothing like the one used to advertise it at the front door, and the maggots in the shower were something else!
