The location is really excellent, so convenient for sight seeing and yet a quiet, interesting and friendly neighborhood, not overrun with visitors. The manager does a brilliant job, the lockers are big enough for all luggage, the water is always hot! The lovely bakery and bath house are the icing in the cake.all reviews »
Tour Club is a great place to stay, with a common living room designed in a traditional Japanese style, as well as a zen garden. The layout invites guests to gather together, so for a solo traveller it's easy to meet other travellers. Also, the free coffee, tea and creamer are a real asset!.
I liked the clean accommodations, the comfortable beds, available kitchen and dining room and meeting area. I stayed in a four person dormitory and appreciated the individual lamps and locked storage areas. The personnel were helpful and friendly.
- Very helpful and friendly staff
- presentation map about kyoto and Japan all in all in every room which helped us a lot
- we booked the western style double room and the bed was awesome
- cheap bike rental just around the corner.
Very friendly staff, thanks for everything! Tucked away in a quiet residential area, free overnight bike parking right outside, very close to two shrines, clean, tidy, relaxing atmosphere, gift given when leaving. Felt warm.
Staff is very friendly and good English skill. He kindly give us get into the room at 12.30 before check-in time (15.30 p.m.) and introduce us everything about the hostel and neighboring. So appreciate.
English speaking staff Very helpful (helped arrange a taxi from there to
my next stay) Cheap Great comfort Big lockers for your bags Great
facilities and common area.
Great location
English speaking staff
The guide book provided telling of all the small good places to eat drink and sights to see recommended by the locals.
Everyone from the staff to the other guests was super friendly. I was
able to meet people easily and exchange information about the area with
other guests.
good staff, room confortable and clean.
Close to the station, but 20 min foot from market and shops. If it rains, you can catch the bus not far.
I liked the location and the fact they had local knowledge on where to go what bus to catch & what was the best place to go and eat.
I liked the location abd the staff as all the people in kyoto was super nice, the room was warm and clean.
It's close to kyoto station
Save us a lot of time and money going everywhere.
Good location, good experience on tatami mats in family room.
Clean, great common areas and facilities.
Comfortable, clean and excellent staff.
Friendly, professional stuff.
Staff very very nice.
everything.
Comfy futons.
1) The rooms are so small for 4 persons
there is just one big box for every body and there is not any place to put your things except your bed.so it was make me nervous when I wanted to pack
at the last night because I didn't have enough place to put my luggage.
A bit more cutlery for making up a sandwich or non- hashi meal.
Just one point - I had a bit of a hard time finding the hostel. The best landmark, once on the street, is the 'bank-like coffee house' where you turn into the narrower lane - but attention, it is now a pub!! And do trust yourself, as the sign is not visible until you've walked a bit down the lane!.
-Room was very small.
The hostel is quite far from Kyoto Station.
However, you can take a bus no. 205 from the station about 2 stops, crossing the street and continuously walk until meeting the Roman style building. Then, turning right at the building and walk a bit until seeing the hostel sign.
With all of my heavy stuff it was a long walk from Kyoto station to the
hostel, but that's a choice I made myself and is only applicable if
you're carrying lots of heavy stuff.
WiFi was temperamental at best.
There was nothing I did not like about Backpackers Hostel Tour club.
More recommendations on nearby dining places would have been good.
Nothing.
'Private' shower was outside the room with only a curtain
separating it from the communal space. More expensive than decent
business hotels in Tokyo. Wifi only worked downstairs. The ethos of the
hostel was that they were doing you a favour by let using you stay there
for such a (questionably) cheap rate and there was an extra charge for
everything- towels, internet, printing etc.
