Authentic Ryokan accommodation and an ideal base from which to explore beautiful Kyoto. We found the location peaceful and accessible and it was easy and safe. Great to have access to a share kitchen and laundry, and the communal lounge was a welcome space to read and eat in. Lots of friendly advice for travellers and they let us store our luggage when we arrived too early. We used the local Fresco store often - really good food.

Money exchange available. Location is very good. It's near Kyoto station and has a number of places to eat nearby. The staffs were friendly and very accommodating as well. The staff were very friendly and serviceminded. The kids loved it. We rented bikes, tried kimonos and tried their outdoor bath. Staff was very friendly, only hotel we stayed in that offered free American coffee and full use of kitchen facilities. Easily accessible, friend staff, wonderful breakfast arrangement, excellent for family accommodation. It was really great place with superb staff. I can recommend it for everybody!. If you want to experience Japanese house inexpensively, this ryokan is the best place to stay. It is quite closer to Kyoto station, about 10~15minutes. Okay room, the staff helpful when ask. Bathroom a bit small for a family of five adults. We are tall Australians and we kept forgetting about the low beams hence some nasty bumps. My children were challenged by the confined space. A little bit difficult to find the ryokan for the first timer. The ceiling height is not very high so there were some instances that I would accidentally hit my head. It was very low to the roof in our room and we hit our head a couple of times. But the room was very cozy :) It was a bit hard to find the hotell since the street is narrow and small. It was easy to just pass the street. May need some mosquito control in summer seasons. It is a traditional house so that it is easy to hear other rooms noise and the rooms are quite small. But, these are not serious matter to enjoy this Japanese ryokan. Inconvenient location far from the main sights and shopping districts. A bit pricey for a very small room with tatami mats. the room is too small,and doesn't have the shampoo and toothbrush.. Well, comfort shouldnt be your priority when staying at a (this?) ryokan. Rooms are very tiny and far from acustically isolated.. There is no onsen at this ryokan to really give a more complete traditional experience. We've been there, done that and are happy that we did. But for the same price one can stay at very fancy modern hotels with much higher comfort. The t.v. and room were too small. It was very cold at night. Room was tiny and freezing cold. Shoes had to be removed but no slippers provided. Mattresses very thin. Expensive breakfast. Scrambled eggs were cold and only allowed one dink, either juice or tea or coffee. The staff forgot to mention about security code to enter in the hotel after closing time, fortunately some guy helped me to get in to the hotel. My room was quite noisy due to people moving upstairs and taking off shoes and storing luggage in front of my room. Considering the total room stay cost the deposit for the room key looked to me as exagerated request as well to pay by cash the additional cost for breakfast. Walls in the room paper thin, very noisy at night and someboddy used the Washing machine at night two times. A long walk away from everything. The futon was dirty and had bed bugs. By far the worst nights we had in Japan!.
