The hotel was excellent value for money and the buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, with more space than expected. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The hotel also runs a frequent shuttle bus too and from the JR Kyoto train station which is very convenient. Staff are very polite and efficient. The Concierge was very helpful. There are not a lot of places to visit near to the hotel, but it is only a short walk to the stop for the bus to Gion. The hotel shuttle bus is great for getting to the station, from where you can get transport around the whole city.

Buses are limited around as well, although with a little walk you can get to most of lines connecting to the main tourist attractions of Kyoto. A bit inconvenient as it isn't near to any restaurants. The Japanese restaurant is really too expensive and not friendly. The bread served for breakfast is frozen which is not acceptable for the price. No Wifi in the rooms, TV with only one English channel. The Hotel is not well located : no good restaurant close to the hotel. No Shops also. Room and bathroom is a bit small....Japan standard although comfy enough... First night stay was very disappointing, since they gave us smoking room, in spite of our request when we made the reservation. Howeevere, they changed us to non smoking room next day, and all in all it was good place. There was no compensation for that incident, since we could hardly sleep first night due to the Tobacco smell. the wi-fi was only in the common area. The hotel bar had a strange set up, one evening a table charge was added to the bill because they had a jazz singer on another, we were refused entry as all tables and seats had been reserved. No wifi in the room, outrageous. Bad location. Troublesome to access public transport from the hotel (bus/metro) and it's a very long walk from the more central areas of the city. Yes, it's close to the station, but there's nothing there. The whole lobby smelled of mildew. the furniture in the rooms is dated and the bathrooms a bit small for the price you pay. also no wireless internet in the rooms which in this decade is not acceptable for a good hotel. No wifi in room,. cannot set the temperature in the room, it was so hot we have to open the window though it was raining. This is typical of Japanese brand hotel, most international brands will be able to. The room decor was shabby and in need of refurbishment. The staff were not friendly. there is no Wifi in the guest room.

The shuttle bus between JR Kyoto Train Station and the hotel runs every 15-30 minutes from 08:05-20:50. (Every 15 minutes from 08:05-11:35, 16:50-20:05, every 30 minutes at other times).
