Where do I begin. Anyone who has searched for clean and affordable accommodations in Florence know that it is not an easy task. After hours of searching between Tripadvisor and another site, I decided to book a room at Rosso23. The hotel is very convenient to everything worth seeing and doing in Florence. I had a short walk from Santa Maria Novella train station to the hotel. The hotel clerk was very professional and even offered to make reservations for a place to eat my first night (I was not.
all reviews » The hotel is a nice mix of modern and old. The rooms are nicely appointed-the bed is relatively comfortable. The breakfast was quite good and the breakfast area is nice-particularly if you can sit in the courtyard. The location of the hotel is fantastic as it sits right in the Piazza so it was a great launching point. The room was quiet because it did not face the Piazza so keep this in mind when booking. Hotel staff was efficient--some more friendly than others. I felt this hotel was a great . All staff were very efficient and pleasant. Any queries were answered promptly. A great location to visit Florence, very close to train station, about a 10 minute walk. The two permanent staff who work in the breakfast room were very friendly and ensured everyone had a good supply of coffee and topped up the food frequently. Location. Hotel Rosso23 is located in the beautiful piazza that houses the Santa Maria de Novella church. Many of Florence's major sites are within close walking distance. While our room was small (with an incredibly narrow shower and no room to store toiletries), the bed was very comfortable. We also had a small patio area outside of our room, which allowed us to open the doors and let some fresh air in. The free breakfast is really good with a variety of pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurt and co. The location and the size of bedroom and bathroom. Booked the room with French bed and didn't have a safety deposit- ask when booking as not all rooms do( we're offered to use hotel safe but declined). Room very very small and shower impossible to use with door closed- floor sloppy and kept catching mixer. Otherwise enjoyed our stay. Would not have French bed room next time- way too small even for Europe,. Shower was very squeezy and I'm not big. Possibly too small for large people. Our room was looking out onto Piazza SMN which was wonderful, until it was bedtime and we realized there was a very loud bar right below our window playing loud music. Also, no sign for the hotel outside, just a very small one inside the door, so we walked past it several times trying to find our hotel when arriving from rail station. Although we booked a room with an "inner courtyard view" it was really more of an unsightly back-alley. Also, the room was one of the smaller hotel rooms I've been in. The room was quite small. There is no free parking. Valetparking in the city center will cost 30€ for 24h. Nothing to dislike. Shower cubicle door was barely wide enough to enter. Once in, every move I made collided instantly with a wall or the tap, I could not bend over to wash my feet. WiFi charge in hotel was exorbitant. Hot water for tea was not hot. The shower wasn't great. Strange air-conditioning system. Wi-Fi should be free. Breakfast could have a bit more selection. Nothing. Only comment hotel could have had more drawers in bedrooms. small elevator, some rooms very small, bathroom not so confortable. Breakfast area a bit basic but ok. Very small douche cell. Very small room, and even a smaller bathroom. size of room was small. Value for money was good though. paying for wifi. The air conditioner in our room did not work consistently, making it quite hot to sleep in. When a staff member came up to check on it, he insisted it was working properly, yet we spent another uncomfortable night in a hot room. When we were getting ready to check out, we found a maintenance man in our room fixing the ac. Wish they had done that sooner instead of brushing off our complaint. The hotel is a bit pricey for what you get; you are definitely paying for location. Staff were not very friendly. One tiny, slow lift for the whole hotel. The fact that they forgot to clean our room one day on the weekend, despite sign at the door requesting it. We left at 10am and returned at 2Pm to find that our room had not been cleaned. We only got clean towels, nothing else. Staff at breakfast were rude and not at all helpfull. The room which i've stayed too small!.. Room was basic for a 'superior' and bathroom was very small. there were major building works going on and it was very loud from about 7am and then all day. It was also difficult to keep the temperature in the very small room comfortable. poor light of the room and the smells mostly in the halls. Small room Small bathroom.
