Hotel L'Orologio is located right in the thick of the action. The hotel is clean and looks brand spanking new! The bathroom is large and clean, while the hotel is kept nice and clean. Location wise, it cant be any better. Close to the central station and facing Santa Maria. It is a 5 min walk to Duomo and everything is close by. We were referred to a great restaurant on our last day Boca Mario (Michelin star rating) where their Bifteca Fiorentina was out of the world. A bit pricey but well wort.
all reviews » The decor - the "watch" theme of the hotel was very well executed and permeated all aspects of design, even down to the taps and mirrors. The location is ideal - a few minutes walk down the interesting streets and alley of central Florence. The room was cosy, the bed & linen first class. Buffet breakfast on the top floor (lifts available!) had a great view over Piazza Sant Maria Novella, and was plentiful. The cocktail bar was good value - you get quite a few snacks with your drinks, and th. This hotel exceeded my expectations all around. Right from the initial entry Stefania O. was like an angel! She offered to make our dinner/lunch reservations and secure our museum entries for our stay. She was quick to offer assistance, outline walking directions on the map and greet us each and every time with a kind smile. The hotel location was fantastic as it was in close proximity to the train station, the Duomo and the central market. I would highly recommend this hotel!. An excellent boutique hotel with spacious rooms and first class amenities. The staff are very friendly and helpful and provided sound advice to all our requests, The breakfast was first rate with a wide choice of fresh fruit, cold cuts and cheese offered in a large room with great views of the city. Everything !!!. Nice hotel. Things we didnt like Well one the breakfast was not as good as you would expect from a 4 star Hotel.Again subjective so take this with a grain of salt. We personally found it dull. I found silverfish in my room. Which I wasnt impressed it especially for a 4 star Hotel. Not 1 but 2. So that stayed in the back of my mind the whole trip. Go easy on the Perfume in the rooms. It was a bit too excessive. Not much - bed linen was changed daily, which struck me as excessive. Beware when ordering musuem tickets from reception, as the hotel also adds a commision on top. There is nothing negative about this hotel. The only complaint I had was that there was not an alarm clock in our room. I did like the breakfast but it can be a little better. No decent restaurant for dinner even there are plenty around. It was slightly dark; more light would have been nice. My room was tiny as a solo traveler; however, I didn't need much. When booking here or elsewhere, keep in mind what you need. I didn't need much. Also, I didn't need it but if you need a walk in shower, best to ask ahead of time. Don't think of these as negatives as much as taking care of what you want or need when on the go. I loved the place. None. Only thing I can mention is more mirrors in room would help with multi tasking when bathroom in use. Coffee making facilities in room but not replenished daily. Neither were coffee cups cleaned after first day use. Have to have coffee before I start the day and at 400 euros per night not much to ask. Also bath advertised but not available. We loved it all!. very few plugs in the rooms for computers etc. our room had a mezzanine to make use of the very high windows of the original building. it was silly having the clost and tea and coffee up there as it all had to be brought down the stairs. No bathrobe in the room. Perhaps there could have been more variety in the food at breakfast. Pillows were too hard for me. The price. the streets surrounding the hotel (piazza santa maria novella) are busy and noisy. Very difficult to actually find it when you are in Piazza Santa Maria Novella. There is no obvious, large, sign to indicate where it is!!. It is pricey. A bit noisy due to the street sounds, with sirens going by alot. Nothing. Nothing. It is not a cheap hotel. Fitness center could use an exercise bike. Expensive. Trying to find it and park a car. Miscommunication between reception and private tour organizer, the appointment wes delayed 1 hour. Breakfast was good but not great. It lacked: a shop to buy essentials and a decent workout facility with water and remote for the television. The odor off the bar made us nauseous after day 2. Besides that we liked the place. Nothing !!!.
