Historic bldg. housing the hotel. Friendly family run business with excellent accommodating service. High ceiling rooms with historic wood work inlay. Stumbled on 30 yrs. ago,only 5 mins. from SMN train stn. loved it and it is still superb spot. La Madia restaurant across street recommended by owner has excellent traditional Tuscan fare and is reasonable. Try the pappardelle al cinghiale. Rafaele, the sommelier, and Marco are top notch.
all reviews » It was a typical Italian city centre budget hotel staff were all family and treated us very well. Location is ideal for sight seeing and facilities in Florence. Not a luxury hotel, but hard to find any fault with place or service or price. Location was superb, close walking distance to all main sites, and a few minutes walk to the railway station. Nothing!. ac very week, but temperature during the day was 30-35*C. they can control on or off of your air-conditioning from their lobby desk. without telling us they will switch off the air-con in the mid-night. so it might get quite hot during summer when u asleep. staff is sometimes quite helpful but not very friendly. some of them can't really speak english. the room was not really up to par. they controled the A/C. outside street lights and their "hotel" sign made our room too bright. The gate of the building closed at 6pm and you have to ring a bell to get the door open. The bell ring at the reception and is very noisy (in the middle of the night). The breakfast is basic, basic.
