A nice 18-th century mansion just off the road to Cork and conveniently close to Little island. Still with hot water and wireless Internet available, and prices are very reasonabl (unlike golf resorts located nearby). the hotel was very nice and relaxing. Peace and quiet and I preferred the old Georgian style to the homogeneity of most hotel rooms these days. The service and breakfast was excellent.the old charm and decor. Very fancy house and good breakfast.Location, friendly staff, breakfast. location. breakfast included. hassle free and quiet. It is a charming old house in an elevated setting commanding what was once a spectacular view of hte harbour.nice old house feel. The age and history of the house. The decor facinated my niece and it isreally pleasantly done. With a little work on the bedrooms and some morestaff training this would be a fantasitc, relaxing place to stay. The shower could have been a bit more powerful. The mix up with the reservation could have been awkward had i not been with my sister. It was quite far away from the town center, and there were no public transport. The bathroom was a little out of date and could do with modernisation. The showers were not at all good. lack of proper dining and bar facilities. Whole experience not very welcoming, needs to concentrate on detail to justify cost and rating, poor outlook over gas plant and container yard. not having a resturant, grounds could have been in better condition and more child friendly. Standards in the guest house are well below par. Remnants of previous guest's visit still in the room. All of the items distinguishing our junior suite from standard rooms were absent on our arrival. Several items missing frmo our breakfast table. arrived at 20:45 and could not get food - restricted TV channels - no gym facilities - some nice old furniture but also some dodgy furniture in the rooms which cheapens the overall effect. They tend to lock the front door and you may wait a while for thereceptionist to respond to the bell .The bedroom television and teleponefacilities were not working. The bathroom floor needed repairing and thebathroom door stuck. So we had to change rooms. With a little tlc itwould be much improved. The view would be great if the there wasn't afactory across the road.
