The rooms were bright and clean and the hotel upgraded us to a Junior Suite because it was our wedding. They had some chocolate strawberries waiting for us in the room. What a nice touch :) The staff was very helpful with any questions and they held our baggages at reception before we were able to check in. They were able to check us in early. The breakfast was great. Lots of variety and lovely eating area. Location is great, close to the water and directly in the centre. We loved our stay. Tha.
all reviews » The Radisson Blu 1919 is centrally located in downtown Reykjavik -- couldn't ask for a better location. Just a block away from the pedestrian area, and from the bus stop. The staff were always helpful and friendly in every way possible. Always. The rooms were very clean, with ample space. The breakfast buffet was really outstanding -- plenty of wonderful variety from which to choose. We felt very welcomed at all times here. That means a lot to us as travelers. Fantastic breakfast with excellent choice, and great staff looking after you. What makes this hotel a superb customer experience is the staff. They are charming, always available for assistance, and offer excellent advice. Most importantly not only are they highly professional - they are always smiling, creating a perfect ambiance for a stay. Comfy, large, warm room with huge windows! Nice big bathroom and fluffy towels, robes and slippers. Very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk and restaurant. Nice buffet breakfast with lots of good, healthy choices. After trekking all over the south coast of Iceland and staying in guesthouses, the luxury of the Radisson Blu was a welcome treat. This is the nicest place to stay in Reykjavik! Its location is second to none, the rooms are good sized witch is extremely hard to find in Iceland. The Radisson 1919 is a place I will one day return to!. Spacious room, with excellent shower. very good location, the bar staff and restaurant staff were very attentive. Superb selection for breakfast. Lots of extras in the room eg iron, tea making etc. Only stayed 1 night but was very good overall. Our room smelled during the night and we could not figure out why. There isn't much to not like here and I would have a hard time saying I didn't like anything. No bath; room could do with re decoration. Some noise during the night - people walking the corridors 3-5am.Breakfast was a fixed price so expensive for light eaters. Rooms were a bit too hot. View was very poor in inside rooms but was quiet. The breakfast was overpriced and not very good. There was some noise from the harbour front late on a Saturday night, but is suppose no more than I'd expect from a city centre hotel. Breakfast is expensive, but there are a lot of small cafe's nearby if you don't want to pay 17euro. We were upgraded to business class but weren't informed and didnt get any of the business class facilities included free of charge. Therefore were charged seperately for the extras. On our first full day we returned to our room at approx 3.30pm, our room had not been cleaned and we had to vacate to allow cleaning to take place. This would not have normally been an issue for us but one of us was unwell following a whale watching trip and needed some time to rest. On our second morning we were given a bill for our breakfast although we were staying on a bed and breakfast basis. Finally on our third morning our breakfast things were cleared away before we had finished. Not that we ended up using it but had the 'health club' been described more as a fitness room and a pic on the website then I wouldn't have bothered packing my gym gear and had more room in the case. We were on the 2nd floor and found it to be very noisy all night from the party goers. It's nice to know there is a lot going on in Reykjavik, but didn't sleep much until 4:30 am and then the street sweeping machines started. We were only there for 2 nights, so it didn't spoil our stay entirely. Despite this we loved Iceland and Reykavik!. Business class room was very small. Room 232. -Stinky, unpleasant smell of bathroom. Very noisy central location with very loud nightclub nearby - we were offered ear plugs !. `Burnt up my curling iron. I do not consider that the reception staff were overly helpful. My room was really noisy. I did not sleep well because the most popular hot dog place in town was below my windows. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to sleep during her business trip!. shower not warm enough - in a country like Iceland!!.
