On arrival at the hotel (3 hours before official check-in) we were warmly welcomed, our luggage stored and given a map and some advise on exploring the local area. We returned around 4pm and were directed to our room, the room was immaculate, and the bed very comfy :-) We had read a few conflicting reviews about the hotel when booking and I have to say (having worked in 5 star hotels in the UK for 15 years) I could not fault a thing! If we are to return to Brussels I would not look anywhere els.
all reviews » Great location! Very close to the centrum and train station. The hotel is surrounded by several great bars and restaurants. Staff was very professional and accommodating. We arrived after the kitchen quite late and the bartender/receptionist were very helpful in providing late night snacks and drinks -- great staff! Free wifi with reasonable speed. Breakfast was great, although a bit expensive (20 euro) if not reserved in advanced. Nice hotel in the centre of the city, 5-10 minutes from the main places of interest, 10 minutes from Brussels Midi (zuid) Station, 15 minutes from Brussels Central Station (we also visited Brugge and Gent which are very beautiful). Comfortable rooms, good price for 4 * and it was real 4*hotel for a very nice price (near 320 Euro for 4 nights). Really loved the night we spent at Sandton Pillows Brussels. Small boutique hotel just a few minutes from the centre. Great overall design and nice breakfast. I paid for a superior room which isn't much bigger than a standard room but the minibar and breakfast were included in the price. And there were gowns and slippers. Very comfortable bed!. I had a delightful stay in this charming hotel. The rooms were spotlessly clean, spacious and the decor was lovely. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast a gourmet treat. The location was great and walking distance to Grand Place. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Brussels. The location was perfect as we were travelling by train - 10 minutes walk to Gare Midi one way and ten minutes walk to the Grande Place the other way. What a fabulous hotel in a great location for sightseeing in brussels. We travelled by eurostar and this is within easy reach of the gare du midi station and the sights of brussels. Location was excellent for us, in a nice square halfway between Brussels-Midi and the Grand Place, we didn't use the Metro the whole weekend. I liked its location, without being in the center of the tourist central plaza area, the hotel is within a 10 minutes walking distance to the plaza and to the tram. It gave us the opportunity to observe some differences between these two areas. This hotel has a excellent location for eating and sightseeing. About an 8 minute walk from the train station. In the city centre but on a quiet street. WiFi throughout the hotel free, the signal is good. good location (10 min from Grande Place), everything is clean and almost new, nicely furnished not small rooms, very good breakfast, polite and helpful staff, you pay after staying (and no deposit). The only thing I found disappointing was that there was no kettle in the room to allow us to make hot drinks when we wanted. Having said that, room service never took more than 10 minutes to bring a tray of coffee to the room. I would have liked tea / coffee facilities in the room but this wouldn't put me off staying here. I can't fault anything else. The girl at reception chatted away inanely on the phone to a friend for 5 minutes while we waited to check in (perhaps she thought I couldn't speak French). The motion sensors in the bathroom and toilet are a joke! They are on a 3 second timer, which is extremely annoying, especially when you're in the shower as the sensor can't detect you when the shower door is steamed up. Lots of people have mentioned this so it's frustrating that they haven't done anything about it. Breakfast not included in rate and was 20€ extra. Second floor has no direct access, you must go to the first and climb stairs .. not good with a 20 kgs suitcase. Even though the hotel is recent already there are a lot of scratches and marks on the room walls. It gives the place a neglected feeling. Nothing. On arrival and very bad attitude from female staff member. Uninterested and unhelpful. Basic Room, loo and shower area doors open into each other. No kettle, tea/cofee making facilities. Not much of an atmospher in the hotel. Staff looked bored,. Bed wasn't hard enough. Toilet door handle broken. Parking was a problem and we had to park in a multi storey a few hundred yards away at €18 per day. Outside the hotel the parking was chaos on the Saturday we arrived. - the only issues we experienced were with poor wifi and the lights in the bathrooms/the light turns itself off every 60 secs whilst one is in shower so the room gets pitch dark/ -although no coffee/tea making facilities in the room However this would not stop me from going back or recommending!. Some trouble with the internet access in the beginning. Sorted out, though. No negatives. Breakfast very expensive although good! We decided to have breakfast at other places with cheaper options. One night cigarette smoke came through the vents in the toilet but I suppose the hotel held responsible for guests smoking in their rooms?. The view in room 110 is of a brick wall, so if you are looking for a view this would not be your room! ;-). Would have appreciated tea making facilities. The reception staff is always slow in the morning checking out. This time though they agreed to check me out the night before, so that was great. Do your own research for restaurants. We passed on the hotel recommendations. It does not have the roller for shoe polishing. There was a nasty smell in the elevator. A bit overpriced. The bed was too soft. I think it was made of memory foam and gave no back support. The hotel has no restaurant, but there is a good, reasonably priced one across the square. the shower leaked over the bathroom floor, toilet in a separate room and a damp patch on the ceiling. No wi-fi in the room, only in the lobby. Rooms are a but tight Sensor light in bath room and toil. Separate toilet and bathroom, but no sink in the toilet... not a sink in the toilet. Breakfast was expensive so we did not eat there. Not a lot of atmosphere in the bar which is nearly always empty, also about the free snacks with your drinks in the evening, I was given some nuts and that was it. The bar closes at eleven and with no service after that! Overall not bad but not perfect!. The automatic light in the bathroom goes off after 10 seconds. We asked about the bike rentals and where to eat, and were recommended to not bike in Brussels and not to go to Grand Place... we ended up disregarding this advice and had no problem with cycling, and Grand place had great food!. Breakfast was good but expensive if not included in the room price. Breakfast seemed expensive so didn't bother. No mirror over dresser in bedroom! No counter space in bathroom. Parking was a challenge. May being such a cold month, heating in the hotel was a problem. Eventually the rooms were heated but breakfast area was very cold. Lack of adjoining rooms for families of older childen (we were happy to not have a "family room" but it was not very convenient having our children located at the other end of the floor from us). Location is poor (unfortunately) for this type of hotel. Lack of room service or dinner meals of any description.
