My favourite hostel where I always stay in Sydney, probably stayed there for 2 months in total. Location is perfect, staff is friendly, rooms are good and clean in general. Scary Canary is downstares and that is one awesome bar! Always make some great friends when staying at X Base!. Base Sydney is the best! I went to this backpackers twice. The staff are really friendly. The city is just 5 minute walks. They even give a free for the whole and good price for others event such as Wildlife and etc.
all reviews » I like having the option to stay in a girls only accommodation. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the other girls very polite. The room was very spacious (10 beds dormitory) with lockers, the place is clean and the location is excellent !. But every hostel has this so no worries!!. very noisy from fellow backparkers. and very very very lourd music from the disco. bugs & fiees bitings. Right next to a bar so that a lot of people loitering and smoking outside the hostel. Loud music and scream (both outside and at the corridor of the hostel) are expected. 6-people room is small. Kitchen could be cleaner. The rooms with no windows or heat controller, it was rather noisy and you couldnt controll tempriture. Nightclub noisy. Roommates talked all night. Shared Bathrooms always dirty. Not the best base hostel but not bad for price. The dbl rooms are above the nightclub real noisy could not sleep and we like to party didn't go quite until 3.30pm and the bass was just way to loud. Gave me a headache for the next three days of my holiday. I checked in on the afternoon, and then I straight went out to Circular Quay. When I came back on night, the bed was not ready and I have no idea which one is my bed. The staff promised me to make good the bed, but it took almost 1 hour and I am really tired that time. This really leave me with bad impression on this hostel. little bit noisy (sometimes). + price. bed sheet not so clean (changing the pillow case only?) some people staying there were not respecting other guests and the hostel did not take any action fire drill and evacuation at 2am was erratic and disorganized. Not so clean bedsheet/pillow case. Suggest to spray air freshener daily in the room to keep room air fresh. bad kitchen , specifically the kitchen knife. The noise from the bar next door and noise from the hall and adjoining rooms. Rubbish internet service and reception. Sneaky at times. Looks like a bit of too much .... although did not come across anything unsafe but felf so. I booked a female only room, they put me in a mixed dorm and didn't even let me know of this change until I opened up the room to see a man naked. They did manage to put me into a female only room once I asked for a refund. I spent $280 for two nights which given the facilities and back packer style accommodation is too much. For another $40 a night I could have stayed in a private room at the rydges. Staff were often rude and unhelpful. Rooms were not cleaned often. Toilets were a disgusting state on a few ocassions. When we check in they told us was no booking in the system, n only left 4 beds but we got 6 persons! So we walk around 3 hours to find another accommodation but most of them full! End up we got to stay separately. Facilities are quite old and not enough staff, always need to queue. Too expensive, wifi access, hot rooms. A lot of noise, dirty enviroment. I was on the first floor. There was loud music playing downstairs, even after midnight. all. So scandalous.

Travelling information

Getting to the hostel isn't a hassle, you have a range of options depending on your budget. The cheapest option will be an Airport Connect bus for AUD 14.00, you can arrange for your pick-up outside either terminal - just give us a call once you have collected your luggage and we will show you where to go. Shuttle bus will take roughly 40 minutes to an hour depending on traffice. The next (and fastest) option will be by City Rail train for AUD 15.00 one way, just let the ticket clerk know that you want to go to Town Hall Station and they can provide the necessary information on where to change platforms etc. Obviously the most expensive option will be by taxi - setting you back anywhere between AUD 25.00 up to AUD 75.00, again, this all depends on traffic and your arrival/departure time so be careful...
