Hotel is in a central position, staff were welcoming and friendly from check in. Food and service in the restaurant were excellent. Rooms whilst on the small side are simply decorated, all the essentials of bar fridge, tea & coffee included, plus a microwave oven. Property has a pool on top level, which we hope to use next visit.......excellent value!. I had a very comfortable suite, plenty of space, big bed with good mattress, fine cotton bedlinen; the bathroom was unusually large with walk-in shower. Real coffee with plunger in the kitchen area was a nice touch. Very helpful staff showed me the quick way to Central so I didn't have to cope with the hills from the city centre.
all reviews » From the moment we entered reception we felt we had reached a friendly establishment. The staff were absolutely professional with a very endearing manner. The charm of the building is matched by the reception ladies. The room was relaxing and comfortable. Charming in fact. The three bedroom appartment was ideal for our stay in size, cleanliness, appliance availability and accessability to the CBD. Staff were very helpful, courteous and friendly. All up a very enjoyable stay and we will be back when we need to stay in Brisbane. This is a great intimate boutique hotel. I also had a private function in the restaurant for 40 people which was a huge success - great food and great service and easy to work with friendly staff. Loved the old 'New York' style lift. Great building and atmosphere. Room not large but high ceilings made it airy. Only few minutes walk from downtown and river terraces. Steps away from central station. Good bistro for breakfast or coffee & muffin option next door. Staff very friendly and helpful. room clean and bed and pillows comfortable. loved the 1930's lift. My only complaint was that the window in my room wouldn't open to let in fresh air and that you had to walk through my bedroom to get to the main bedroom but I know the other two bedroom apartment that my parents stayed in wasn't the same layout and worked much better. Would have been nice to have a bar for an evening drink after a long day exploring the city. Common areas were a bit worn but hotel is undergoing major renovation early in 2014. Not much parking but probably the same with most city centre hotels. choose a room with no window facing the busy intersection and the station. You would heard the traffic all night. Staff at the breakfast place not equally friendly to everybody though. I'll leave it like that. Sad to hear Hotel is closing down for a while and the staff won't have jobs. They have exceptional staff compared to other hotels. Hope the renovation is worth it. Nothing actually. The bathroom smelled a bit musty. Nothing. Nothing. the small flat screen tv in cupboard and not enough time to enjoy and the parking cost. The bed was too hard and I couldn't sleep on the pillows. I ended up using a cushion in a pillowcase as it as softer. Could you offer a softer pillow in the cupboard perhaps?. Carpark was difficult to get in and out of car spaces, and $30 may have been a little steep. Restaurant was extremely hot at breakfast. Some confusion over breakfast, waitress stated "everything is included, except (some) items" and that we were able to have 1 coffee or 1 juice. We thought for the price perhaps it came with breakfast - $80 later, obviously it did not :( . TV remote in large bedroom did not work. The lack of hanging and drawer facilities. The dining room is extremely basic, the inclusive breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. I had read the word boutique mentioned in connection with the hotel, what a laugh!!!. On arrival into the hotel, the reception was dull, dark, gave the impression of an old folks home. When I went to the bar to see if friends had arrived, was told ''they better arrive soon as I close in ten minutes. !!!This was 9.20pm !!!.
