Loved the wrap around Balcony as we spend most of our In-room time there, however the chairs could be more comfortable! Loved the Heated Pool as we both like to swim regularly and it didnt take my breath away! Large Bed lovely Loved that it had a bath as I like to soak!. Great location where is next to the City botanic graden that you can have the beautiful graden view since you wake up. 5mins walk to the central of city. surronded by cafes and restaurants. Besides, nice staffs offer friendly and careful serive to guests.
all reviews » I found this hotel very good value for money, excellent position but with building works going on next door woke us up very early.The facilities are clean, comfortable and staff very helpful. i would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a city stay. Spacious, light, good storage space, excellent range of restaurants and cafes in the vicinity, close to the gardens and QUT, on the route of the free loop bus, good value for Brisbane and I would stay here again. Have stayed here before and was very pleased with the service and rooms. Was not disappointed as there seems to be a consistency of service. Generally have found Oaks accommodation to be very good. Compact, clean apartment with everything you needed. Staff were helpful and friendly. Great location for a city excursion. Loved the view from balcony & main bedroom. Beautiful & to die for. Kitchen was nice, had all you need, the washing machine and dry available and the sachet of washing powder. Location was pretty much the only thing which impressed me about this hotel. Close to the city and restuarants,. Slightly sqeezy for 2 in the kitchen together & not enough on inventory. Eg. No scissors, Vase or cooking implements. If there is a fully functioning kitchen, then there should be plenty of microwave containers, a good frypan, Serving ware(Platters & Lge bowls etc) and storage containers for left-overs. NO wifi here may unconveince to guests. building works next door. Wifi not included (or available as far as I could tell), outdoor noise due to thousands of a/cs means using the balcony not pleasant (not the hotel's fault!), TV remote needed replacing (volume buttons don't work - serious problem when TV stations at different volumes - a constant irritant). Wifi important - the other two not so but could be. Building works on adjacent blocks starting too early.?at 0600. The bathrooms were clean and functional, but probably due for an upgrade. Only one thing that I didn't like, THE SHOWER was terrible. Would love to spend a week there but the shower is putting us off. thr was a terrible smell in/near the liftws which lingered the entire time i was there. people using the pool at 6am woke me up in my room and the construction work going on next door was very loud. Both of these things were probably one offs. Can't think of anything that we didn't like!. Unfortunately the back rooms face on too a construction site of two new high rise buildings; so ask for a front facing room ( and much better view of the brisbane river anyway ). Very expensive internet ...should be provided free of charge to guests staying for 3 or more days... Towels changed every day - why? Only 2 lifts Noise of construction around hotel - being woken at 3am by clanging and banging. I object to my credit card being 'swiped' for $150 and some days later the amount is still held. This has happened to me on a previous stay at Oaks. I stay at various other hotels and while they require a credit card hold, my funds are released on departure. There is no reason for holding my money even though I have checked out. The contractual arrangement between myself and Oaks ended when I checked out and paid my room rate and incidentals. I will choose not be staying at Oaks again. Tv in bedroom not working Shower over bath especially for older people No instructions for working of appliances. nobody at the reception between 10pm-6am. Bathrooms looking old and slightly dirty. The noise from the construction at 7am on a Saturday morning. Daytime noise; shower left water on floor, needs better curtain or something. Having to wait for 5-10 mins for the lift, we walked the stairs a couple of times to save having to wait and yes realise why there was only one lift operating and it could not be helped. Because we paid for an executive apptment, we were expecting a higher floor and views. Our rooms on the 16th floor were looking into a nearby office or over a building site. Security on the door after midnight was extremely pushy asking peoples names. Also security guard on Friday night was trying to 'frighten' my travel companions with info about police. Great stay, average price. The security guards friendliness really let the stay down. Car park charge $25 per night I a rediculous. Include this in the total bill, not seperate. Decor tired and old. Noisy building works next door 6 days a week. Staff unfriendly. I booked this hotel in error, normally stay at Felix Oaks on the same street. My room was on the 26th floor and awoke each morning at 6.45am to construction noise on the same level as a new building next door, horrible!!. One lift was broken all weekend which was poor considering that it was busy . As I had to pay 2 months in advance to secure the booking and had my credit card debited as security. I felt that this was not acceptable. No wifi, having to pay for internet. The construction noise that we werent told about. The noise that came into the room via the windows when they were closed, like they havent been sealed properly. The Aisan lady at reception that seemed that anything you asked for was a hassle. The lack of maintenace in the room, damage to a wall, the poor quality of the fixtures in the bathroom, that reminded on of the shower and taps that thjey have at the beach to rinse off. -Dishes had to be cleaned before we used them -rips through the carpet in the bedroom -dirty marks throughout the rooms -none of the plugs fit the sinks -housekeeping didn't make any of the beds properly left took sheets off beds and didn't replace them -some unfriendly staff -uneven steps out front causing major safety issues -$25 a night for a car park I do not recommend!!!!!. The rooms are showing age, and not as clean as preferred. - Huge construction site next door what was very noisy, nobody informed us about that by the time of the booking!!! The staffs reaction when we complained about the noise was not very understanding. They even did not apologize! - The shower is made for small people only - staff was not very helpful in total. That our room wasnt cleaned when it was suppose to and then the cleaner came when we were in our room and wouldnt come back later. That there was construction work out side the appartment waking us up very noisy and the amount we paid was not worth it and the large TV was not even working... Plumbing needed attention curtains needed rehanging lounge needs refurbishing iron missing and then needed to be replaced as blew fuse We were not alerted that there would be constant work being carried out on surrounding building sites and the noise deafening.
