What a find! The breakfast and happy hour at Petite Auberge are the BEST we've ever experienced in a B & B/Boutique hotel. Very generous describes the staff and the food/wine. Our room was cozy (with gas fire place) and decorated so beautifully. Very comfy! We will definitely stay here when we return to S.F. We also met some delightful fellow guests and had some wonderful conversations. For those, who don't like to socialize that much, don't worry, you can have plenty of privacy during.
all reviews » The location was only a few blocks from public transportation. There were many eating places of all types nearby. The hotel is slightly uphill; it is about 3 blocks of moderate incline but there are different routes that can minimize the uphill walk. The hotel is very nice and clean with amenities I did not see available at other hotels such as bottled water, coffee, tea, hot breakfast and cookies. It is an older building but well maintained. The service was friendly and the receptionist on Oct. Alexander from the White Swan Inn was extremely helpful. There was no one at the front desk of the Petite Auberge. The valet parking was very nice considering the price. The wait was a bit long, anywhere from 20-30 minutes, but works great if you plan for it. They communicated very well to me about how valet parking worked. Most places are a nightmare for this. Petite auberge was wonderful. They gave us chocolate and a Californian Zinfandel because it was our honeymoon. So sweet of them. Would . Everything about your lovely hotel. In 45 yrs of travel, we both found your hotel to be the most hospitable, comfortable, relaxing, friendly we have every expierenced. The little extras (home cooked cookies in lobby), wine and nibbles get-togethers in the early evening, were a true delight. Those little extras, and off course the beautiful glow of the fire in the room, made your hotel a wonderful expierence. Our sincere thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. Beautifully presented, french-styled hotel. Quaintly old-fashioned in some of the fittings,elevator but very charming. Comfortable bed plus a lounge for guests to meet and have wine and nibbles at 5pm. Great breakfast provided with fresh fruit,tea,coffee and soft drinks available during the day free of charge.Very accommodating with late flight which gave us another chance to sample the wine. This is such a great place to stay! Loved everything about it: the wonderful room with fireplace, the daily fresh baked delicious cookies, the talks with others guests while having wine at 5pm with delicious hors d'oevres in the cozy parlor, the lovely and attentive staff... It's like home away from home. Definitely recommend!. Loved the lounge area downstairs where tea and coffee making facilities were available around the clock. Also the home baking - fantastic idea! The opportunity to have a wine and snacks with fellow guests from 5pm to 6.30pm each evening was also a wonderful idea and we thoroughly enjoyed doing just that!. La petite Auberge had an outstanding atmosphere made all the more special by the quality of the staff and serve provided. It was very charming - right down to the lift!! The lounge and early evening wine and aperitif encouraged the meeting of old friends and the making of new friends. The French theme was throughout and gave you the feel of being in provincial France rather than downtown San Francisco - very relaxing. The staff and the hospitality were excellent. Given high prices of small boutique hotels in sf (or almost any safe hotel in sf ) I did like that we didn't pay upwards of 300 a night, as I heard others do who did not book through letsbookhotel.com We paid just under 200 including nice hot breakfast. Breakfast Friendly approach of staff. Cookies. unique design of hotel inner design. Everything was cozy with antique Europian style of funiture and wallpaper etc. The food was really great. Snaks, tea, and coffee were alway provided. Nothing. All was good. There was nothing we didn't like. The staff were friendly and fun, the home cooking wonderful. Not always having the concierge on site meant visiting its sister hotel next door for information but always greeted in a friendly manner once buzzed in. No problems at all. There was nothing not to like! Just one minor point, the shower in our room could do with an upgrade in the near future although this may detract from the French feel. Our room on top floor was great; we were told that rooms on lower floors were noisier (could hear people above sometimes); street noise sometimes a bit loud. There was nothing I didn't like. The price went up when we wanted to extend our stay. Thermostat did not work and street noise was a little loud. The shower was pretty small. I'm 5'9" and 140 lbs and bumped my elbows a lot. nothing. Nothing. Inconsiderate other travellers in room next door and above making lots of noise which carries because of the age of the building. I miss that you have dropped the possibility of exercising at White Swan!!. Had a problem with parking but the staff was very apologetic and did not charge for the parking. It was a holiday weekend and the city was crazy. The rooms were not sound proof enough, squeeking floor boards woke us up and the sound of toilets and showers. n/a. Sign stating that damaging chemicals were in use. That they did not offer bar service, to guest, only at the 5 pm happy hour. Sometimes had to wait for front desk help. Nothing. High price. There are many times when no one is available at the front desk. Night staff are at another location. Nothing. Room too small and having to rely on front desk at White Swan after 1830hrs. A little inconvenience.... Chaotic situation when we checked in Saturday night, although it was not particularly busy... Turned out that our car was never parked in the parking garage, but was on the street close to the front of the hotel, but not directly, left unlocked with the keys in the ignition! We did not notice thi that evening, as we had dinner and opera tickets that we were in a hurry to get to...of course Molly was very apologetic the next morning, and needless to say we didn't pay the 32$ garage fee... Having to initially access via another hotel Lethal lift doors! No guidance on TV channels (for non-USA citizens!). Very small and noisy. Breakfast was average at best. I didn't know when I reserved this hotel is a inn indeed. This hotel is a part of the white swan inn. And I couldn't find persons easily around roby.
