The location is incredible! It is one block round the corned from Grand Central Station and just a very short walk to the Public library and Bryant Park, the Rockefeller Centre and Times Square. From our window we looked right at the Chrysler Building wich is also on a few short blocks away. The door service is amazing. I never once had to open the door by my self there is always a someone waiting. There the also very helpful. We had a wedding to get to in soho but were unsure of the address. .
all reviews » Celebrated an anniversary with the wife. We live in Long Island so we decided to book a room in the city for the night as we had tickets to a broadway play and dinner reservations. We got to the hotel first to settle in before heading out to dinner. We were presently surprised that they had upgraded us to a sweet. The suite was beautiful, it even had a balcony! We almost didn't want to leave the hotel the whole night, but we did and the whole time we were thinking and couldn't wait to go back t. I stayed overnight with my daughter, following her surgery at the nearby Tisch Hospital, Langone Medical Center. The staff were wonderfully personable and accommodating: they stored our bags early in the day and held our room for a very late check-in. When I requested a quiet room, they upgraded us with a suite on the 9th floor. We loved the space and style of this traditional New York hotel. The elevators, though smaller, were quick and convenient. Our room came with a free breakfast buffet of. The Staff!!!! Oh my gosh, I could not have dealt with nicer people,I loved them. My husband and I were traveling for our 25th year wedding anniversary and the staff was so kind and helpful, they made it a true celebration. We were greeted with kindness and a view of the Chrysler building, my favorite NYC building, just as requested, but also an attached balcony, which provided incredible views of the city and a peek view of the river. There was also a welcome gift. The location was outstandi. Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectation when initially searching for a mid-budget family sightseeing and shopping trip to nyc for 4 days. The rooms are a really good size, the location is perfect for walking around the city and access to Grand central for subway to go farther afield and the front desk staff especially Jennifer and Barbara are outstanding. Wonderful stay at a welcoming hotel with great rooms at great price. A/c unit very loud indeed and goes off very often (stayed in Feb but on 16th floor it was needed to cool down the room, not heat it up!) but this seems to be a theme in all nyc hotel rooms. Make sure you keep a copy of your reservation if it includes anything like Breakfast. Their internal reservations department don't appear to be too hot at noting these details from the letsbookhotel.com reservation. Made very welcome and arrival. Staff friendly and efficient. The room (akin or suite) was huge and very comfortable for three friends sharing. Location was absolutely perfect with a great convenience store across the road where you could get a nice cup of take out tea/coffee every morning! Bar at hotel was lovely but right near The Pod - a hotel where there is a fabulous roof top bar with great views. Love the position of the hotel walking distance from sightseeing and shops.Great places to eat nearby too. Fantastic room ( 3 of us in it),comfortable, plenty of hot water, with great aminities. All staff we met were friendly , willing to help at any time.Conciege check us into our return flight and printed off our boarding passes , made our transfer to JFK less stress full. Great value for money. Our room was quiet and the air conditioner easily adjusted. Big bedroom and closet, comfortable bed. Free fruit drink and slice of cake, plus a copy of Wall Street Journal and NY Times at the concierge. No charge for luggage storage. Conveniently close to Grand Central Station. Good soft lighting and a comfortable chair for reading, plus a large desk for Internet, which was free of extra charge. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were made to feel welcome and valued as guests. The staff , Rebbecca, Oscar and Amelia in particular could not have been more friendly and helpful. We even received a free upgrade to a suite with a terrific view of the Empire State Building... It was a great 5 night stay and a terrific experience. Separate room for refreshments, large screen tv and ultra comfortable bed. Room temp was comfortably warm and shower was delighfltful!. The air conditioning system on our balcony that was on 24hrs a day!!. No ice. No tea/coffee maker in the room. No HDTV; available TV signals were noisy analog, stretched to fit on a big flat screen. Nothing!!!!. Nothing. Lighting was a tad bit dim but otherwise, no comaints. No complaints. Minor points: No coffee maker in room. A bit noisy from the adjoining room through the locked common door. Breakfast too expensive. Room was very dated and worn. Not horrible, but it needs to be refreshed. The light switch covers were very dirty. Bathroom was a hack job, but everything worked. The toilet sounded like a jet taking off. The shower curtain was too short for the tub and lots of water leaked onto the bathroom floor. The front desk staff were inconsistent with their knowledge (but were friendly/helpful enough). I know this all sounds bad, but overall, we were happy. they didnt allow me to extend with the same price, lol. Nothing. It was terrific. The air conditioning units are extremely noisy. Jet-lag!! but wasn't their fault!!. You could hear a lot of street noise...but that's NYC anyway. The noise from the toilet heater and the slow draining sink. Apart from this, I truly enjoyed my stay in this hotel and so did my friends. There was dust on the walls. The top comforter on one bed had stains in. The bathroom gets very steamy very quickly. A little uncomfortable. under the carpet some tiles were not so firm, but it's nothing. the bathroom must be refurbished,i'ts not worth a four stars in Midtown manhattan. I only have one actual "complaint" and its not big. Although the shower gave a great shower, it needs some repair. The shower head off sprayed a bit and the valve on the faucet didn't seal quite right. We were on 3rd floor, street noise kept coming. It was a little bit noisy in the morning as we were near the lift and the housekeepers' door. During the weekend we had some problems with our neighbors besides the rooms, that was a teenager group that screwed during the nights, with loud music inside the rooms and opening and closing the rooms doors. It seems like spring-break when a lot of teenager go to some place to have fun and parties. It happened only during one day of our stay (which was 10 days). Beside that I recommend this hotel. price, but we did get what we paid for!! It was very luxurious. N/a. The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear in carpets and paint... There was a pretty strong mildew odor in the bathroom that seemed to come from the exhaust vent-not because the room was not clean. There were no kitchen facilities, I.e. Microwave. nothing. Over priced - sold as a luxury hotel but falls short. Good sized rooms but poor reception and facilities. No pool and fitness room was not found on our trip. Dark lobby and bar, overpriced breakfast. The Bar during the week closes too early (11pm). Different from what I have seen from Internet it is a bit old and no coffee maker. But overall I gave an A-.
