The staff couldn't have been more professional and pleasant...we had a small key snafu at the outset and they apologized and fixed the situation immediately..They then offered us a late checkout..Supremely nice...The gave us a great corner room with a view...no extra cost..We had requested an upper floor room and were very pleased when they put us on the 33rd floor corner with a view of... We thought all the staff where very friendly and helpfull.Especially the man who showed us to our room.It was very clean and tidy and we loved our room! The view was fantastic! so a big thank-you for that.The bar was nice and we could relax in there.I have been in a lot of hotel bars that are just horrible but this was great.I hope to stay in the hotel again next year.thank you.
all reviews » It has an upscale, international feel, and both times I have stayed there, there was a comfortable mix of business and family. There is also a Pax deli right next door for quick coffee or water before you head out. Also, one block from Grand Central station and there were always plenty of cabs. Staff is great too, rooms are clean and big enough. The first day we arrived we were looked after by diedre at the frontdesk her welcome to the hotel was very nice the restruant steff lookedafter us very well we had breakfast every morning in the hotel veryrelaxed roxey was great she looked after us so well we enjoyed our staythe staff made us feel so welcome we will be back well done to all. Myself and my 12 year old daughter stayed in the New York Helmsley and we loved it, it's definately our regular NYC Hotel now. I was a bit nervous being on my own with a kid, but the guys in the hotel were so helpful, I felt safe and comfortable for the entire time, so thanks to everyone there, they were lovely. The staff were exceptionally friendly, in particular the guys out front and bar staff. Special mention for a peurto rican girl who's name I've forgotten who worked in the bar, outstanding. The room was very comfortable and clean. Check in and out were very quick and efficient.We liked everything! The staff was charming and gracious. They werehighly efficient and very knowledgeable as well. Reuben was awesome!!Next time we come to nyc we will stay at the Helmsley and I have alreadyrecommended it to my friend when he comes to ny from England. we came to the hotel early in the morning straight from our cruise ship just hoping they would let us leave our luggage until time to check in but they said they had a room ready if we wanted it. we were thrilled, that was so nice!!! and the room was awesome!!. This was my honeymoon trip and the staff/room with views were just fantastic, we had a great time, the staff were very helpful. hotel was great. My Father has stayed several times over the years on his travels in New York and prefers this Hotel. Great staff, friendly, professional with great attitudes and very helpful. The hotel was clean, great food and great room service, housekeeping was excellent. We enjoy our stay and will stay there again next year.effeciency and friendly nature of all staff that we met. Main reception staff volunteering information to us about facilities, especially about purchasing of phone card to call home at very reasonable rates. Staff were very friendly and helpful (particularly Maria d'Anna, offering us a late checkout and a room with a view - without us requesting it). I did not think the breakfast food was very good (except the oatmeal). I did not eat any other meals at the hotel. I thought the food prices were too high.The price for a bottle of water, 10.00$ is to high even for such nice hotel. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room and the price of food couldn't be justified so consequently we eat out all the time.no coffee service in lobby. Drinks in the bar overpriced 10.00 dollars for a small glass of wine. The rooms were very hot and there was no option of cool air. i really cant say i had a problem because i thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.room not high enough.
