I love this little Inn. It is by far the least expensive place to stay in Chelsea/Flatiron. It is not fancy by any means but it is quiet and the location is great. It's half a block off 5th ave shopping, two blocks from Union square and 2 blocks from 8th Ave in Chelsea. The rooms have a refrigerator which was rare to find for the price. all reviews » The location and the courteous staff! Very comfortable and quiet and clean and you can get the sense of actually living there when you stay in this wonderful historic building. I will always book at the Chelsea Inn whenever I travel to NYC. The location is central to Union Square Station, and only one block over from 5th Avenue. From here, it's easy to get to anywhere in this beautiful City!. Great location, very handy to subway stops to get to Central Park etc. Handy to lots of food places within walking distances. Chelsea is a cool area to hang out in. Room is quite small & a bit dated but it's perfect for travellers not wanting to stay in a backpackers, as its affordable & in a really good location. It was very clean and the location was perfect. My room was also very spacious (I had my own bathroom, room 106 on the ground floor). I was also able to keep my luggage there after I checked out when I had to go to a meeting. I felt like I was staying in a Bed and Breakfast in Europe. Loved the antiques and old-world feel to the room. The staff was extremely helpful and showed great respect. I will most definitely stay there again. A very convenient location - subway station near Union Square is a five-minute walk. The staff is very friendly. The shared bathroom is clean. The interior is a little aged but very comfortable and cosy. Good location and great price for being right in the city. It was old but very homey and not as loud as expected. Also, they can store your lugage before you check in and after you check out. The way the staff ultimately helped me with an internet problem. As the desk closes at 9PM, you have to carry key with you, but it's even more convenient, as you can come whenever you want. For clean, basic accommodation in the heart of Manhattan, this hotel is ideal. Given the current scares, I should add that my room was entirely free of bed bugs. The location is great and the room was spacious. Upgraded fixtures gave it a nicer look. The cleaning lady was friendly. Bathroom fixtures were nice. Close to nice restaurants. The room could have been a little cleaner. The bed was fine but there were a couple small stains on the carpet and some candy wrappers from the previous guest. I loved everything about the Chelsea Inn!. Service from the cafe that you get your breakfast from with your voucher next door is pretty average, not the hotels fault tho. Appliances and features in the room were a bit outdated and it smelled a little funny, but nothing I couldn't handle. I was directly across from the front desk. It got a bit noisy at times. Next time, I'll simply ask for another location. We stayed on the fourth floor and had a large suitcase, but there was not an elevator at the hotel so we had to carry it up!. The check-in time was a little late (3pm) and the breakfast was VERY limited. Third floor and shared bathroom, but I knew what I was getting, the room was pleasant and the staff helpful, so I have no complaints. The first time I asked for internet help it didn't work, but eventually was resolved. The rate was higher than what letsbookhotel.com said it would be. The place was a bit old, and there was a lack of air conditioning which kind of sucked and did make it a bit uncomfortable during hot New York City nights, but you get what you pay for and this accomodation was easy on the wallet, so we weren't too fussed. There was no kettle in room and I love my tea:) (a small thing but teas and coffes cost in NY) The heating made lot of noise I had to have it turned off but I wasn't cold. Shared bathroom. The lampshades were too dark, white would have been better. A roller shade or venetian blind would have been better than the curtains for light and privacy control, especially when the airconditioner is on. We didn't get the breakfast, b/c it was next door at a restaurant, and the servers there ignored us for over 10minutes, so we just left. No reflection necessarily on Chelsea Inn, but a definite disappointment for the Belgium restaurant. Front desk.. Shared bathroom... but even that wasn't too bad. We only had to share it with one other room on the floor. nothing!. Only thing we would've appreciated was a kettle and mugs in our room. The wi-fi didn't work in the room - had to sit in the stairs to check e-mails - but that was not a problem. n/a; the Chelsea Inn far exceeded my expectations for a hotel in that location at that price. Room key got stuck in the door once. We're in our 70s and walking up 4 flights carrying luggage was tough. Might have brighter lights. the water pipes are LOUD and clangy for a few moments but not all the time. breakfast was small (pastry and coffee) but at least it was something!. Bed wad hard as a rock. first timers need to be told at the time of check in that there won't be any staff before 9 a.m. or after 9 p.m. It is not enough that they are spelled out or in print. The cloak closet is rather dusty, and there is some box standing in it. No lift, which could be a problem for those who are not so mobile. Four different wifi networks and none of them worked. No process to fix them until next day. The room had a heavy moldy smell, which made it feel dingy. The staff was polite but unhelpful. Definitely overpriced for what it offers. There are better deals at this price range. Most of the staff seemed annoyed. Fees for checking in late. Fees for checking out 30 minutes late. The heater did not work.
