The staff. The library was a nice place to meet guests at breakfast time. The breakfasts were great and superb value. Lovely feeling about the place and nice local bar on ground floor. Very quite for such a central location. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The location couldn't have been better particularly the proximity to subways. It has a lift. The rooms were huge for New York. Coffee and cakes available throughout the day and evening.
all reviews » Loved our short stay here. Great location and charming inn - more like staying in a home than a hotel, which is especially hard to come by in New York. We had large, comfortable room on the main floor. Friendly staff (and friendly cat!), cozy breakfast room. We liked the bar downstairs as well. We will definitely come back here another time. Very comfortable and homey in the midst of the big city.The customer service was fantastic. Went out of their way to help with directions, etc. They had a good breakfast and was fun to talk to the other quests during breakfast. We would stay there again and recommend it to others. The staff was very kind and informative when we needed to find our way around the city or acquire tickets for events or shows. The feel of the Inn was quaint, comfortable, and eclectic. The rooms were very clean and crisp. What a lovely Inn and will return in the future. LOVED staying at the Inn on 23rd! The staff was incredibly helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Our room was so cute and cozy. We loved the simple things, like the umbrellas by the front door when it was snowing/raining one evening. Highly recommend this B&B!. Very nice small family hotel in the heart of New York. Feels like home away from home, each room individually decorated, really nice and comfortable. Stayed for a long weekend with my husband, we will definitely come back and stay att The Inn on 23rd again. It is a perfect location, just next to subway on 6th Ave, the rooms are large and comfortable, especialy for NYC, nice library, nice staff, nice decores, I really liked the hotel, perfect value for the money. Knowledgeable and very personable owner and staff who seemed genuinely interested making our stay as pleasant as possible, location and eclectic collection of antiques and other memorabilia. i LOVED this place - spacious room, cool interior design, very friendly and helpful staff, good location - walking distance to Penn Station and Port Authority, very clean. Homy feeling!. Annette and her team are fantastic. Really friendly atmosphere in a quirky setting. Loved the location...very central for getting about and already miss Dorothy the cat. Great hotel in a lovely area of town. We especially liked the quirky friendliness of the hotel. A wonderful place to stay, we would definitely stay again. The rooms and the staff were excellent. When I asked to change rooms to a quieter location (5th floor) the request was granted the next day. Very relaxed ambience and lovely big rooms. Great place to sit and relax in hotel. This is the best nyc hotel we have stayed in by a mile. It has it's price, but The Inn on 23rd is the best so far..! & anyone who is looking for me in NY will find me there!. The hotel seemed to be a labour of love and a pleasant change from the usual corporate hote. The ambience is very welcoming. The connected restaurant is excellent. There was really nothing that we didn't like although my wife would have preferred the room to be a little lighter although we appreciate this is difficult in the middle of New York. The decor of the room probably didn't help with the bare brick walls but this was purely personal preference. Bedding could use an upgrade, eg feather vs foam pillows would be nicer. Wish coffee was available early in the morning for those who need to leave early for business meeting or whatever. Tea is OK but not the same. Can't think of anything..!. Only small issue - that the aircon was not possible to regulate so much, but it should stay on anyway becuase of the summer heat. Only thing was somewhat noisy air conditioner. slow internet in the room. When it was time to leave!. The Guilty Goose is more of a bar (a very good one) than a restaurant. There are better places on 23rd street and 7th and 8th avenue within 10 minutes walk of the hotel where you can eat better and cheaper. On the second floor, where we first stayed, the noise from the restaurant was unbearable until about midnight. Anyone who stays here should stay as high as possible, in the back. A fridge in the room would be great but this is only a very small point in what is an outstanding hotel. Perhaps it was just my room----I was terribly cold. They have a portable heater but the room is large and it really did not do the job adequately. In milder weather though I would always choose to stay at the Inn. HVAC it's too much hot or too much cold and noise from the street....the insulation of the windows is terrible!!!.
