From the moment we walked into the hotel lobby we felt very at home....there was a wonderful smell of fresh lillies and the check-in was very efficient and courteous. We had forgotten our padlock key to our suitcase but it wasn't a problem as one of the staff came up to our room with a pair or bolt cutters! The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in- which made it difficult getting up in the mornings! The room was lovely and had tea/coffee making facilities as well as a micro.
all reviews » I find the Blakely to be centrally located for all activities in Manhattan. The staff is friendly and accomodating. The rooms are spacious enough. I love the area in the room where you have Emeril Kerik coffee and the Kerik coffee maker. there is also a microwave, a small refrigerator, sink and utensils for morning coffee if you want to sleep late and not take advantage of the complimentary breakfast. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms spotless where the magnifying mirror on the wall is. First and foremost, the friendly and helpful staff. Then the paneled lobby, the flocked chairs flanking the sofa in the lobby, the suede-lined walls in the floors above ~ Continental breakfast. Watermelon in February was spectacular! Luscious! Thanks, Blakely! Galley kitchen in the room's hallway - mini-bar, frig, sink, plenty of dishes and cutlery (you could dine here if you chose), microwave, a Keurig for morning coffee. Lots of mirrors in the bath, comfy bed and a sitting area beside. We . Loved staying at the Blakely. Lobby is warm and you feel you are in an English Library. Front desk staff were very nice, helpful and took care of all our needs and requests no matter how small. The room size was appropriate and the kitchenette a was great to have. The bathroom a little small, but the toiletries were great!!!. They have only 2 sizes of rooms. We were 2 only so we took the Superior Queen Room. Bed and Frette linens were super nice and bed was changed daily. The location was excel. The location of the hotel was fantastic. Walking distance to Times Square and Central Park and Rockefeller Center and Midtown shopping. There was a subway station on the block which made longer trips a cinch. The staff could not have been friendlier! The hotel is very small and quaint and had a sort of old world feel to it. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and even a jacuzzi bathtub! The hotel is also right next door and connected to a really nice res. just about everything is wonderful at the Blakely. The location is fabulous close to theatre, dining, shopping, Central Park, etc. The rooms are spacious with well appointed furnishings and the suites are luxurious. The beds are the most comfortable I ever slept in and bathrooms well lit and extremely clean. I love the kitchen area with Keurig coffee and tea, refrigerators, microwave oven, dishes and more. Staff were very accommodating and extremely hospitable ! they were always friendly, helpful and did their jobs with focus on service. breakfast was healthy choices of fruit, toast, cereal, milk, juices, pastries and bottomless coffe, tipping was easy for the great service. room was big enough, housekeeping did well, room has a classic architectural style which we loved ! Location was super, got to Times Square, restaurants, Central Park, transportation , had a great time in th Big Apple!. It is my second time at Blakely, NY. I already loved the cozy athmosphere, the suberb location and the huge and confortable room. Decoration is really of good taste. But this time i was even more surprised by the concierge (Alex) services that arranged great ticket discounts, were extremely helpfull with my toddler child, not to mention the homy athmosphere. Actually, maybe i should not state so much compliments just to keep this jewel hotel in NY only for me! :). The location of this hotel is great. Subway two minutes away, Central Park, museums, shops and Times Square only a few minutes' walk. Room is comfortably furnished and well equpped with a good bathroom. Concierge was very helpful with our luggage and maintenance man was very correct and efficient. It is useful there is a Hertz hire car office literally next door if you want to get a car to go out of the city and have a lot of luggage. The hotel was very nice, elegant, and clean. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The staff were terrific, friendly and professional. The breakfast was good, and a nice way to start a busy day. There were a couple of requests that I had prior to arriving and both were in place when we arrived. When we arrived we found out that we had been upgraded to a Jr. Suite. The position of the Blakely was fantastic for us, we were able to get around and visit many of New Yorks wonders on our long list. Close to central park, theatre district was an easy walk to Times Square, great restaurants, the Rockerfeller building, Radio city,shopping. It's all there. It was near the Macy's Thanksgiving parade, the teatre district and Radio City Musci Hall. It had easy access to dining, shopping and the subway. The staff was friendly, and the hotel was very clean. Management did their best to cope with room issues but better window insulation on rear rooms is urgently needed. This includes our upgrade room (given free) when we complained about lack of hanger space in original room. Staff upgraded us to a suite. It was the largest space we have ever had in New York. Main room had to queen beds, second room was a sitting room with a day bed.. Also had kitchenette and marble bath. Staff was great. Parking garage was adjacent to hotel and discounted our parking. Quieter area but close to everything. The staff are extremely helpful with giving directions and information about different things to do. The rooms and hotel are very clean, it's a nice touch getting a news paper every morning placed outside your door. We loved the location near times square and Central Park, the facilities provided by management, the day of the check out they offer us to keep our luggage and that was so convenient because we were leaving New York late so we didn't have to carry them with us. The bathroom needs a shelf for toiletries. A family of 4 can't put all their stuff on the sink. Other than that it was excellent!!. Could you please cover the steps into the lobby so that they are totally that dull tape? They give you a bit of a striped effect they way you have them and I always had to inch my way down them....never certain where the step ended and the next one began. The continental breakfast was just ok. The staff in the restaurant were not part. Can`t say there was anything we didn`t like. The room was small, but very clean and comfortable. Room at rear of hotel facing onto Services Area for NYC Hilton resulting in non-stop (and I mean THROUGHOUT the night) very loud noise from service transport including reversing trucks with warning horns. Room had very poor window insulation so noise unbearable. Hotel issued us with ear plugs for final night. Lack of adequate wardrobe space. Only room for 6 clothes hangers!. Public spaces like lobby, elevators and hallways need to be updated. Room decor was a bit dark. Could not get the room dark enough at night - the shade would not reach the bottom to the sill. The only detractor for us was the attached restaurant, Abbocatto, which handles the complimentary continental breakfast. Some reviewers complained about the choices for breakfast, but we were fine with that (it's free and it's continental!). The reason we rate the restaurant as a negative is primarily the unfriendly staff, both at breakfast and one night for dinner. They barely spoke and never cracked a smile. If the breakfast had not been included in the price, I would have gone elsewhere. I thought I had requested non-smoking, but we were put on a non-smoking floor. The hallway smelled of smoke but fortunately, the room did not. I did not request a room change because the room did not smell. That there was only one channel available in the tv. Not much - just bring your own hair dryer if you want need a powerful/hot dryer. Elevators were small. bedding was lovely but too heavy to actually use, city garbage trucks pick up at night so it can be noisy-using ear plugs helped,. The bathroom lighting is very poor for putting on makeup. There was a makeup mirror but even the lighting on that was very dim. They definitely need to do something about this since it was next to impossible to apply even the basics. Extra taxes to final bill which added nearly $50 per day to our bill as quoted in letsbookhotel.com. Tips expected for breakfast albeit included in your hotel prices. Very expensive experience in New York generally. Ive been 5 times in the last 7yrs and found it very expensive this time,. Small area for breakfast, had to wait in long line twice in a 4 day stay. If you have to rush somewhere it's a lot faster to have breakfast at Au Bon Pain across the street. Noisy people next door...you can hear everything through the walls. The parking is just ok, although they did give a discount for staying at the Blakely...much cheaper than the Hilton!. Small elevator,oh well. Small lobby, would like larger seating area. Lifts very cramped. Décor could do with modernising. Lighting in rooms was dim. While it was plenty for reading, the dim lighting in the bathrooms made applying makeup difficult. No complaints. Room we had was small with only a desk chair so not great for watching TV and we did spend more time than we counted on in the room with nearly 5ins of rain in 24 hours.
