Very comfortable room and bed, spacious enough, large bath. Staff (Andrew in particular) was fantastic, helping with city trip and travel planning, suggestions, opening hours, train schedules. Loved the location in a well-maintained residential area but still only a couple of blocks to a main tube station (requires fewer connections) and lots of great choices for meals on Old Bromwell-Rd - dinner @ Bella Italia, Zetland Arms good pub food, breakfast at Cartuccio's, Hummingbird Bakery, and the R.
all reviews » This is a quality hotel in a good area. The staff are very professional and the Concierge team (particularly Head Concierge, Rafiq) very helpful. I have stayed 5 - 6 times over the past 9 months and have been in different double rooms each time and all are clean and attractively designed and with adequate space. Check out is at noon and my room has always been ready when I have arrived. Hotel is very close to the shops, ubderground, museums and cafes of South Kensington and within walking dista. Every London tourist or business man does know that this city is not found on the bargain side of travelling, i.e. shelter is expensive. Keeping that in mind, I’d say that The Regency Hotel offers an acceptable price-performance ratio. The hotel itself seems to have been pretty newly renovated, for this kind of mid-range category a pretty positive surprise. The location is great! Close to the tube and basically in the center of South Kensington. The room itself was (for London standards) adequa. Good location in south Kensington short walk from Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Harrods etc. 5-10 mins from the nearest tube station. We had a last minute rate on letsbookhotel.com that made this hotel good value. Rooms very small we had a refurbished twin for my son and I, that was clean and comfortable. We did not use the restaurant for breakfast as the rate did not include it and we felt we would get better value o. Staff excellent. Room nice, probably good for price and location in London. I would highly recommend this hotel. This is an excellent modern hotel in a great location in central London. A 16£ taxi ride from Victoria station and 5 minutes to S. Kensington tube. Ground floor room we stayed in was very modern, very clean, good size for two adult travellers with king bed. Good value for London with great selection of restaurants and shopping in the area. Great location close to the museums and underground. We took a room without breakfast (as the comments on letsbookhotel.com suggested that the breakfast was overpriced and not so good) and we thought it was a good idea since there are so many lovely restaurants close to the hotel. The room was nice, modern and very very clean. Helpfulness and friendliness of the staff as one of us was in a wheel chair and as there was no disabled access it was no trouble to life me up still in the chair. I thought the staff could have spoken to me, in a wheel chair as it is my legs that don't work not my overall well being and not to assume I am unable to converse. The hotel was clean, modern and within easy access of the places we needed to be and it was excellent value for money considering how nice it was. The porter got us taxi's immediately and was very helpful. As a large party, it can sometimes take ages to get checked in, but with this hotel it was pretty quick. Regency Hotel is in a wonderful location for accessing all London has to offer. Check out is often slow and could be more efficient. Meals are good though the breakfast buffet could be more extensive. The receptionist staff was a bit overstrained with three guests trying to check in at the same time. The only real downside, however, was the mattress. I was sinking into some sort of foam material which at the end gave me a very unpleasant sleeping experience. Everybody who ever slept in an old, old bed knows this kind of feeling. Well, it was definitely not on the positive side, so the chances for returning someday are very low. Soundproofing let this hotel down as we were kept awake by noisy neighbors coming back and fourth into there rooms into the early hours. Think hotel has issue with restaurant. Not used. No fridge in room but not really a problem as room service available. It was unfortunate that the club deluxe rooms all had windows which were inward/wall facing - the photo on the website clearly shows a floor to ceiling-type window - but this was a relatively minor thing. With a standard room wireless Internet is charged extra. Luckily Starbucks is only 3 min walk away for free Internet, coffee and breakfast. Sorry Regency would have loved breakfast with you, but.............. Perhaps next time when it's free. Nothing to dislike. The heavy doors in the bar and toilets as this meant I couldn't have autonomy to go to the toilet on my own, although I know they were fire doors. The lack of ashtrays outside as we had to put our cigarettes out on the floor and the porter had to sweep them up! The £50 extras fee per person wasn't explained properly. nothing. Very little to dislike - pillows a bit hard though mattress very comfortable. More information on air conditioning and heating would be useful for customers unused to the setting screen. No free wi fi in standard rooms. Maybe the hotel could have free access in the lobby. Thought the breakfast was a bit on the pricey side and maybe should have been included in the room rate but there again, the hotel is in the Knightsbridge, Kensington area so I am sure it was competitively priced. Like all hotels, the air conditioning is weak and must run constantly to to keep cool. The elevator was very noisy (door slam) which is only a problem if your room is near the elevator. high price for breakfast. Light as you walk in the room next to the Wardrobe is on a senser and only stays on for about 10 seconds. The mood lighting looked good but would be nice to have a bright light as an option. Bar area very old fashioned compared to the rest of the hotel. Breakfast far too expensive. Small rooms, didn't inform us about the complimentary Elysium lounge that we were entitled to use !! Only discovered it on the last day. Having to pay £5for 24hrs wifi...not a huge issue but think should be free given price of rooms !. For the money I paid per night I would like to have had a continental breakfast included. That would have made it better value for money for me. No swimming pool/spa. Rooms were comfortable but small. Our air conditioner did not work and the room was slightly warm but not unbearable. There were no other rooms to move to. Small Room No clock in the room Couldn't figure out how to make the air conditioner work but we didn't need to use it because it was cool out Some strange quirks with the modern electronics. There was nothing not to like. Nothing. Only criticism would be that it had the potential to be very noisy at night as everyone slams the doors and we could hear people in corridor . Although the staff was attentive and easy enough to deal with, the vibe in the lobby could be improved. bed creaked every time you moved. Noisey neigbours in adloining rooms with doors constantly banging. Deluxe rooms should include full breakfast. Noise from room above, very creaky floorboards. Rooms on the small side but still very clean and modern. Would have preferred separate toiletries rather than dispensers. one of the twin beds had a distinct slope and my friend didnt have the best nights sleep. extra charge for wifi, very loud noise of a generator in the back of hotel all the time when window of room is open. The pillows were too hard. I had a queensgate room, which due to the location at the front of the hotel, could be a bit noisy. although comfortable, the twin room was rather on the small side for two adult women. This is obviously designed for business travellers and didn't quite suit our needs. Very basic storage space for clothing so had to live out of suitcases on floor. No iron in room, so borrow from reception, iron everything you may need for the stay then hang all clothes over furniture!!! No lift available to our floor. Low water pressure on shower but other than that a nice hotel.
