lovely apartment, very homely and well run, good breakfast provided in the aprtment, very helpfull staff, good location, we have a 5 month old boy and we walked to most attractions including the castle, shops nearby including Tesco express for grabbing food for the aprtment but have resturants right on the canal by the aprtment if you prefer. Was very quite at night. The apartment was fantastic, equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Rooms were comfortable and clean and the kitchen was stocked with basic essentials. Parking was great too. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Would definately use this apartment/hotel complex again.
all reviews » The apartment was lovely, and the staff were very helpful, allowing is into our rooms early so that we could get ready for a wedding. I made several calls prior the trip to ensure that we could get a high chair and cot for our baby and the staff remembered me and were very friendly. The location was great - walking distance to the city centre and nice and quiet. Huge amounts of space to relax together in the morning and evening which was much more sociable than sitting on the end of your bed in a hotel room or waiting in the lobby. Very well serviced.Really modern, excellent facilities in the apartment. Well equiped kitchen, great bathrooms, great balcony. Staff really helpful and efficient. Safe parking facility. Didn't want to go home! Paid for a 1 bedroom, but were upgraded to 2 bedroom!. We were very impressed that we were contacted to check on when we were arriving and how we wanted the rooms configured. We had asked for a cot and were provided with a high chair as well. We will be recommending this hotel to our friends.Eq2 met all our needs, it was close to the city and allowed us total flexibity. Excellent, clean, spacious facilities in ideal location. The quality of the room, combined with the space. Space and comfort. Also near to Princes st etc. (The smell fron the local brewery but guess there's not much you can do about that!). On one night we did experience some noise disturbance from drunken guests who were partying until two am. However, reception called them and the noise stopped soon afterwards.It would have been nice to have had a "continental" breakfast - a few croissants with local butter and jam, some local yoghurts, cheese and coffee. It could be an inexpensive way to show off a bit of local produce. Lovely Molton Brown products but Muller Light Yogs and white bread... The location is not as central as some other hotels. Also, the water pressure in the showers is very poor. Seems to attract large groups on stag/hen weekends, so noise could be a problem in the summer. With the windows closed, noise insulation was excellent.Only one of the rooms in the apartment had a double bed. However, this did not spoil our stay!. Was on ground floor but think I would prefer being higher as the apartments up had patio doors so view would have been better.Low water pressure in showers Room not ready until 2.30pm. nothing. Nothing. Lived up to expectations. music playing very loudly before 9am was a bit annoying. Could have been a little more creative with breakfast provisions Some construction work in vicinity. Nothing to dislike. I would consider something a bit more central next time, and use fewer taxis!. Beds and TV reception could have been improved. paying for parking. Low water pressure, would have liked the option of a later checkout time.

All units include a satellite flat-screen TV and DVD player. There is a seating and/or dining area in some units. All units have a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher and oven. A microwave and toaster are also offered, as well as a kettle. Every unit features a private bathroom with a bath, free toiletries, and a hair dryer. The apartment features free WiFi throughout the property. University of Edinburgh is 1.2 km from Fountain Court Hotel EQ2. The nearest airport is Edinburgh Airport, 10 km from the property.

Room information details

Each of our apartments has a fusion of modern furniture and design classics, a bright open plan modular lounge with 32 inch LCD digital TV (including news, sports & movie channels), a great Hi-Fi. For those relaxed evenings in, or when you need to entertain the children, board games and even a PlayStation are available via the concierge along with a selection of CDs and DVDs. Our kitchens are finished to a high specification with Smeg integrated fridge and a washer/dryer, and after an exhausting day sightseeing and exploring the many Edinburgh attractions, relax and unwind in our bathrooms (each apartment has at least 2), and pamper yourself with all the exquisite bathroom accessories.

Travelling information

From Edinburgh Airport/A8 - Take the a8 from Edinburgh Airport through Corstorphine to Haymarket Terrace, stay in the middle lane and follow signs for a8 into Edinburgh City Centre. Carry on to Shandwick Place and follow signs for a702. You will see Fraser's Department store ahead on your left and the Rutland Hotel on your right; at this point make sure you take the right hand lane to turn right onto Lothian Road. Once on Lothian Road, get into the left hand lane, continue straight ahead and follow signs for a702 (you will pass the Sheraton Hotel on your right). At the very top of Lothian Road/Earl Grey Street, there is a large junction, with three forks (the Bank of Scotland is on your left), take the right hand lane into Home Street. When on Home Street, get into the right hand lane, and turn right onto Gilmore Place, the Kings Theatre will be on your left and Celeste Beauty Spa on the right. Drive for some 100 metres, you will see Gilmore Place church on the left, immediately opposite this is the right turning onto Lower Gilmore Place, from here please follow signs for the eq-2 apartments. Edinburgh Airport City Centre bus service to Edinburgh every 10 minutes between 7am & 9:40pm Monday to Friday and 10:10am & 5:30pm at weekends - Single cost: 3.30, Open return: 5.00. Road - South from A702. Follow A702 through Morningside and onto Bruntsfield Place that in turn leads onto Leven Street and Home Street. At the crossroads where Leven Street joins Home Street, turn left into Gilmore Place, the Kings Theatre will be on your right and Celeste Beauty Spa on the left. Drive for some 100 metres, you will see Gilmore Place church on the left, immediately opposite this is the right turning onto Lower Gilmore Place, from here please follow signs for the EQ-2 apartments.
