Really enjoyed our stay - you could not meet a nicer or more genuine couple than Dot and her husband. The room was really nice with a lovely shower and big tv. Breakfast each morning was brilliant and had a nice choice of a fry or continental. The location is a bit outside the city centre (about £8-10 for a taxi at night) but during the day there is a bus literally right outside the door. The chef even gave us change for the bus.

The location is outside of the city but the bus stops every 5 mins just outside of the hotel so its ideal and you avoid the heavy parking charges for staying in the centre. Breakfast was good with a hot and cold buffet available. We would definatley stay here again. We only stayed one night but we had a great meal.We were looked after from the minute we walked in.We had a large comfortable room with every thing you could ask for.In the morning we had a lovely buffet breakfast and after that we were given a run down to Edinburgh royal infirmary so I was not late for my appointment.So thanks again to dot and her husband and would stay their again. The hosts Ted and Dot were very friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. The room was large, comfortable and clean. Value for money. The restaurant attached to the Lodge and run by our hosts was first class and reasonably priced. 5 star meal for a 3 star price. Well done. The Lodge was close to transport to get into Edinburgh, which was not to far away. The staff where extremely friendly. My friend and I were only there for one night. We arrived late, after their restaurant had closed. Hungry and tired from travelling the chef generously offered to make us dinner. Best gourmet fish & chips ever!!!! I would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in Edinburgh. The room was magnificent with many nice touches. The room warmed up well and the bed was extremely comfortable. The meals and breakfast were so good and served promptly with discretion and friendliness. As we were going to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh [3 mins away], the location could not be beaten. Lovely clean modern rooms with all the comforts you need...e.g. Robe and slippers. Nice warm friendly welcome on arrival and help with our luggage to our bedroom by Ted. Excellent standard of cuisine at dinner. Good breakfast choices also. Would certainly go back to this location. Very friendly owners, who go out of their way to help you and make you feel at home. One of the best hotels i have stayed in years. Ted and Dot are fantastic people made me and my wife feel right at home from the get go. The food is Amazing 5* at 3* price. The food was fantastic and I will come back again. There is a bus stop right beside the hotel and you can easy access to the city center. The rooms were large,well appointed,comfortable and warm. The shower (important this)was excellent. Breakfasts were substantial and of good quality. The hosts could not have been more attentive and helpful. Very welcoming, nice touches such as bowls of dried flowers, newspapers available, literature on the Fringe, bathroom products. Easy to find, good location for the city or getting out of town. Liked the personal approach and Teddy and all the staff were very accomodating.....the hotel and facilities were great value and the team try to their best to guide you!!!. The only problem we had was the WIFI connection was extremely weak and sometimes impossible to connect to in the room which was a pain. Would have loved if check out was later than 10 and breakfast being a bit later also but understand as its a small hotel why this is. All considered would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again. There is nothing I would say I disliked about this hotel. I would stay here again if I visited Edinburgh in the future. There are no faults that we found. Nothing. Since this was winter, the dining room which sits in the conservatory, you needed to be dressed to cover that, but depending on seating, there was a wall mounted fire. Still this was to be expected and when better weather comes, the dining room will come into its own. We felt we were being hurried out of the restaurant after we had finished eating , personally it is nice to relax even for a short period after you finish the last mouthful!. Maybe the breakfast time was a bit too short, just from 7:30 to 8:30 am, however, it worked perfect for us as we wanted to get up early and go to the city. I wouldn't consider this a negative thing. My only reservation concerned the traffic noise, but this was our fault as we only discovered the second radiator as we left. This would have allowed us to turn the heating down and so shut the windows thus reducing external noise. I loved it all!. Nothing. Didnt want to leave!. Nothing!. Nothing. It was perfect. You have to accept it is a few miles out of town - but if you do then, the bus service is great and a taxi back from the centre is £9. So we didn't find it to be a real issue. Nothing really. Nothing. The restraunt was closed so had no option but to travel to city centre to eat on evenings, the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and didn't sleep well at all. Did not accept card and no evening meals available. car park was tight, wi-fi not accessible in our room at all times. Neither of us could connect to wifi with any of our devices. The host mentioned they have just installed new hubs, so hopefully things will be ironed out soon. Too noisy as located next to busy road No chef, no dinner... Too expensivefor a lodge... Not sure what the 4 stars stand for.... Avoid.
