The staff at the resort are what makes the place . It is in an ideal setting with beautiful views - but without the happy Burmese Boys that looked after my young daughter and myself like we were family - it have been a different holiday . Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful location, poolside bungalow very nice, good location central to nearby beaches which are all well worth a short trip, swimming pool and gardens were some of the best we had seen in Thailand.

Haad Salad is one of the nicest beaches on island and hotel is in good position, pool and beach lovely and my bungalow was overlooking the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful and hotel, although a little "tired" round the edges was on the whole comfortable. Breakfast was always good, great choice and plentiful. Food in restaurant was tasty and good value. beautiful beach nice pool the diving offer with sail rock divers (monique is at the restaurant to explain you everything is is super friendly, really makes you want to try it!). affordable hotel taxy to Fullmoon party. No lids to cover food at buffet breakfast! Egg 'chef' didn't know how to fry an egg, he just burnt it on high heat, more training required. Nothing. Beach too salow, With animals in the bottom (like snakes... Called "ping" by locals. Staff talks very very bad english!!!!. Deck chairs on beach - would prefer sunbeds. Staff not always very attentive - need to be more customer service orientated. My daughter and I had adjoining bungalows by the pool, view at front was great, but we were backing on to area where staff started work at 0645 am, much chattering and banging and the view of bags of what can only be described as "toilet waste paper" was awful! If you can, make sure you have bungalow on right-hand side as you look towards the sea. We mentioned this to the manager, doubt much will be done!. quite old bungalows lot of mosquitoes the restaurant is not really good and the staff didn't speak really well english. the staff was rude and trying to make extra money, the rooms were dirty - I saw the mode of cleaning, they did not ever sweap the floor. weak wi-fi. the breakfast was poor, the beach was very dirty. the location is inconvenient for all and any types of leasure.

Information about the area

Koh Phangan is the largest in a small archipelago of six islands and lies to the north of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. This idyllic island is known for its pristine white beaches and its infamous Full Moon Party, which brings party-goers from around the world together to experience one of the biggest beach parties around. Situated on the west coast of Koh Phangan, Haad Salad is still largely under developed and as such is relatively quiet and peaceful.

Travelling information

As Koh Phangan does not have an airport it is only accessible via boat, from either the mainland or Koh Samui. There are several options available with ferries departing from Big Buddha pier or Nathon, which leaves for Thong Sala three times a day. It is best to check with a local agent for further details. Haad Salad is a 30 minute drive from the main port of Thong Sala. It can also be accessed via Chaloklum, a local fishing village by boat taxi. Chartering a speed boat is also available, for those who want to arrive in style.
