Location of the hotel is perfect, only minutes away from the buzzling bar/restaurant areas but also in a quiet part of Patong beach. Has easy access to the beach. Hotel restaurants provide fairly valued lunch/dinner options. Rooms are clean and in good size. Pool area is surrounded by trees and provides a relaxed area. Overall very satisfying experience. To arrive and get a complementary glass of fruit juice just makes the check in experience lovely . The best thing I would say about this hotel is Location,Location,Location. Just brillient. Rooms are lovely big enough for 3 people comfortably. Free wifi in lobby, Breakfast is great. Would definitely stay here again.
all reviews » We have been staying at the Patong Merlin for 14 years now & always find the staff to be friendly & helpful. The resort even though a little old still holds it appeal. The rooms are ideal. The pools are great. Location is excellent. We will be back next year. After some 10 to 12 visits in Patong it was this time a more relaxed atmosphere. The beach was clean, the water much better. Not so much active sales as before. A lot of good restaurants and fair prices. Thai people very nice and frendly. The staff were very friendly & efficient. Food was beautiful. Good value for money. Close to shops but felt like in paradise when using the pool & lounging facilities. Spa treatment was excellent. No request was too hard. friendly staff, comfortable good sized room especially liked walk in shower , great pool facilities, good service, excellent breakfasts and good value for money. great through access from main street to beach, great pool access, nice rooms. Its location is near to almost everything including Hard Rock Cafe that is just next to the hotel. The pools. location. The rooms were very clean. The cleaning staff were fantastic. The pools were ok. Just make sure that the towel collector checks your room number when you return the pool towels otherwise the hotel charges 400 baht/towel to your room. I had to correct this mistake three times during our five days stay. Patong Merlin needs to consider free wi-fi. The staff at the front reception could be a little more helpful & friendly. Had booked a double bed but when we got there late at night found to single beds. Staff were quick to fix thus though. Some rooms need upgrading but they appear to be in the middle of doing this. smokers in the lobby. Extra service very expensive. This hotel is surviving in its past glory, no wonder there are no more merlin hotels in most part of the world. The complicated check in procedure. The gloomy room environment for its old design. No free wifi in the room. bed, pillows, not having tax inclusive in pricing of meals, drinks, etc. aircon average and at times uncomfortable. That you have to pay for WI FI, you do not even have to pay for WI FI in Hostels!!!. The cost was far to much for the accommodation standards. Compared to the service in other hotels in Phuket this was poor. A convenient location for the shopping and Bangla but this is a large, busy and impersonal hotel .. Cheap but with the consequential reduction in standards. Waiting 5 hours to check in after a booking error and then had to change rooms at 10.30 am and share with friends until our room was ready. No free wifi in rooms or around the pool. They charged us for wifi waiting in the lobby for 5 hours when the lobby is free. We spent 5 hours buying drinks waiting. Our door did not lock and was not fixed on request. Breakfast was very boring. No swim up bar. Will not be going again.
